Cliven Bundy Wonders If Blacks Are 'Better Off As Slaves' Than On Gov't Assistance

Now that he's won a confrontation with the Bureau of Land Management over grazing his cattle on federal land, Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy has time to hold court on everything from abortion to the current state of "the Negro."

Bundy made some racially charged comments about government assistance in his daily news conference Saturday, according to a New York Times story published Wednesday.

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” the rancher began as he described a "government house" in Las Vegas where he recalled that all the people who sat outside seemed to "have nothing to do."

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he said, as quoted by the Times. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

The Times reached out to spokespeople for Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Dean Heller (R-NV), who have spoken in support of Bundy, and for Texas Attorney Gen. Greg Abbott ®. Those who responded distanced themselves from Bundy and his remarks.

A spokesman for Heller, who had called Bundy and his supporters "patriots," told the Times that the senator “completely disagrees with Mr. Bundy’s appalling and racist statements, and condemns them in the most strenuous way.”

I think all these folks that speak on issues within the black community have an account here on VJ.

I see what you did there.

putting an entire race of people back in slavery so they can pick cotton

OKay lets all agree, if you think unpopular thoughts you surrender your rights.

you're an idiot.

Fixed for you.

So a man who just managed to get one of the largest farm subsidies from the government that's been given to an individual farmer (let's not get into corporate farming conglomerates) in decades if not centuries is complaining about other people getting subsidies?

LAWL

That's right. The squatter on the government trough has an opinion on people that are on the government trough. Perhaps farmer Bundy should go and learn how to pick cotton so that he can free himself from his dependence on the government. That moocher is some piece of work.

Fixed for you.

You didn't fix anything, Mr. predictable threw the race flag up and you got distracted.

It's not about Bundys views on anything or David Koreshes at WACO or the person beaten by a cop, it is about the excessive use of force.

Don't get distracted.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you talk about the Negro, aren't you talking about black people?

A lot of Blacks are now reusing that term Negro,

this old timer was probably from the time when using that term was the "respectable" term. Ask MLK or X.

His POV on Blacks, the New world Order, UFO's or religion have nothing to do with what happened..... it is a distraction.

Next we will hear he had a domestic batter charge 20 yrs ago.

Who uses Negro Danno? Do you know someone who does? Because nobody I know or associate with says that. It's black or African American.

How can anyone ask Martin Luther King or Malcolm X? They've both been assassinated.

So we should ignore his views on black people and focus on his law breaking? Ok.

-For a cultural temperature, put the term in Youtube and see what you get.

-Yes, as far as the Gov't is concerned his views on life are meaningless, this is a legal case about legal matters. When he (or they) breech the law, we should not be distracted away from that.

So, if it's on Youtube, that makes it law? Why don't you ask a black person? Or is this too far out of your culture zone?

His views means nothing to me. I commented on his stupidity. I just find it interesting that white people who have no skin in the game when it comes to black people tend to have the most to say.

I really enjoyed reading this.

There's some things he says that are almost right - but then he veers off into another land.

There are a large number of people (but not just blacks) who live on gov't subsidies and he is correct, now what do they do?

He says they abort their young and it's sad really, He was supposed to say that they keep having children that they can't afford. He really messed that one up.

He says they put their young men in jail. I wonder who he means when he says "they"? The other "negroes"? I don't think so.

And then he says they are in jail because they never learned to pick cotton. He was supposed to say that they're in jail because they have no fathers. I guess their fathers are in jail because they didn't learn to pick cotton either. It's just a vicious cycle of not picking cotton. Where will it end?

And I have no problem with him wondering if they were better off as slaves. There are definitely problems in the black community and it's okay to wonder if their lives are better now. But, I believe the allowable amount of time to "wonder" is 2 seconds, then you pretty much have to say, "nah, things were really bad for them as slaves." But not this guy, he continues to wonder. Maybe he's just a slow thinker.

I hope to hear more from him.

What do people on government subsidies do? Most of them get up every morning and go to work.

Hmmmmm better off as slaves.

Well let's see;

What man wants to watch his wife and children sold?

What man wants to see his 9 year old become some old dude's concubine?

What man wants another man to come to his house whenever he wants to have sex with his wife and children? That includes little boys

What man wants to be whipped in the back?

What man wants to be bent over picking cotton from sun up til sun down?

What man wants left over pig guts to feed his family?

What child wants to watch their father hang from a tree? my great grandmother by the way

What child wants to wonder whatever happened to her mother? my great grandmother by the way

What man wants to be forced to rape a woman so she can become pregnant to have more slave children?

Who wants to bring children into a life of hopelessness and nothingness?

Nobody

Guess that sums up that stupid thought.
