No, the OP is interesting, but now it is a bunch of people arguing about economics that have no clue about economics, and seem to make up history for whatever ends they see fit. Maybe next someone will argue that the US economy is just like balancing a check book, or talk about how the economy was good during WW2 and suggest we have some more wars.

Oh, we don't need a crisis for that. War is always good business. .

True, but I don't think we should build our economic policy on it. I don't think the US fared well in our recent wars, just a few CEOs got uber rich building ####### in Iraq.

it is YOU that is wrong. Demonstably so. And not surprisingly, I might add. The fact of the matter is that the US economy contracted 2% in Q3/08 and it contracted 8.3% in Q4/08. That was all solidly under Bush. The contraction then eased to 5.4% in Q1/09 and leveled off to 0.4% in Q2/09 before expanding again in Q3/09. It is clear from these numbers that contrary to your ridiculous claim there was no acceleration of the recession under Obama. Nor does your second ridiculous claim that the recession has drug on since hold water. The country came out of the receission in Q3/09 and has not since slipped back into a recession.

maam, you don't get to count the bounce from bush's actions to prevent a collapse to bolster obama's recovery numbers. look around, the economy is just starting to get where it should have been 2-3 years ago.

I am out of +1...

Whereas we one went to war to secure the future of our nation and hemisphere, we now go to wars for the sake of some CEO making a quick buck and retiring early.

You don't get to post nonsense without having it called that. You claimed Obama accelerated the recession (nonsense) and that it has drug on ever since (nonsense).

you're lying now. not surprised, its your MO. I said:

you're wrong. the recession started under bush, picked up speed under obama, and has drug on due to his asinine policies.

the recession did pick up speed under obama. look at real estate for example. it has drug on due to dear leaders policies. ask anyone in business what the added regulations & taxes from obamacare have done to help recovery. unless they're an obamabot (like sUme here) they'll say not a damn thing.

I also said:

its wrong to blame anyONE. .

how about you quit misquoting others? Edited by SMOKE

I haven't lied at all. You stated two points that are factually incorrect. I provided the relevant links and data to demonstrate that you were wrong. The recession slowed under Obama. The contraction was at 8.3% in the quarter prior to his taking office and 5.4% during his forst quarter in office. The contraction then slowed further to 0.4% in the enxt quarter and the recession was over after that and has since not returned. There is nothing to be argued about here - these are just plain and simple facts that are supported by the data.

You were wrong on both claims and that's all there is to it. You can blow all the smoke you want but it won't mask the fact that you were wrong. But that's the usual with you.

I said neither. in fact, I said it wasn't obama alones fault and reposted it for you to reread. you decided to not read it & continue your squat & pee routine. which you do all day everyday. face it. this is obama's economy. your party will suffer greatly in a few months due to his lies & failures,

Everything in the past was good and everything in the future is bad.

Good enough summation?

I think you nailed it with "this thread is stupid".

I see. So you are saying that the recession picked up speed under Obama and drug on but you say that it is not Obama's fault alone - though you specifically blamed "his asinine policies" in that same sentence. Sure, whatever works for you. But ewven then you're still wrong on the claims. The recession did not pick up speed in 2009 but slowed. It picked up speed in Q3 and Q4 of 2008 and then slowed in Q1 andQ2 of 2009. So it picked up speed under Bush and slowed under Obama. Not that hard to grasp, really.

For the other claim that the recession drug on under Obama, well, it continued for 2 quarters into 2009 - much as it did in the rest of the industrialized world. If that's what you meant by that then yes, it did continue for some months. Gotta give the man a chance to address the issue after taking office and he did that. The ARRA passed in mid February 2009 and showed effects rather quickly. The contraction slowed from 5.4% in the first quarter to 0.4% in the second and started to grow thereafter. That's pretty significant turn-around. As for the duration of the receission, the great recession lasted between 4 and 8 quarters for most of our peer nations. It's not like we were trailing anyone.

It was to be expected. There's just no way to have a reasonable conversation about how this country falls behind her peers and what it is that ails the economy of this nation. So America will just continue to decline while other industrialized nations pursue policies and paths that actually work for their people.

obama drives the economy into the ground.

:jest: :jest: :jest: :jest: :jest: :jest: :jest: :jest: :jest: :jest:

Obama is capable of doing two things:

1. Nothing

2. All of the worst case possible scenarios for every situation at once.

Everything in the past was good and everything in the future is bad.

Good enough summation?

Says every generation ever. The end is near!!! Yeah, I'm sure
