Hi Im planning to apply for a change of status from J1 to F1 visa and I have a few questions. Im carrently in USA, im an aupair, so I live with an americam family right now? this is my second year. I want to stay in the US and thats why im planning to go to language school. My host family is ready to support me by providing a room, transportation and food and everything else I need. I will have to pay only for my tuition which is $300 every month. thats where I got stuck. I was filling up application and I have to show the way Im going to support myself during the studies. I have savings, but its literally nothing $3500. Is it enough for proving that i will be able to pay for the school or they will deny because its not enough? does anybode knows what is the minimum amount of money i have to have on my bank statement if I have a sponsor. I know that if you dont then you have to have about $30,000. but the fact that i have a sponsor confusing me, and I dont have more money either here in US or back home. so any help would be really appreciated.

The sponsor can be anyone. Your host family, your parents, your relatives, whoever have a bank account statement that can cover your expenses in the U.S. it is vary by school.

Keep in mind. It is not easy to get approved if your sponsor don't have enough fund for you. I would recommend you to go to Community college instead of language school. I know it is easy way out but my sister got rejected before by transferring from a language school to vocational school.

On the other hand, I adjusted my j1 to f1 (I was an au pair as well.) It was about 7 years ago. My school required about $15,000 a year. However, it is changed now to a lot more higher due to higher tuition fee.

Good luck to you.
