I am curious as to what the timeline is from filing for a K1 visa to getting an EAD, and finally a green card. What were the costs for everything? Thank you!

From filing on Dec 22, 2012 up to present ( expecting EAD & GC soon), that's almost 16 months. The costs involved as follows:

1. Filing fee: $340

2. Visa interview fee: $240

3. Medicals: $400

4. Airfare: $1,571

5. AOS+EAD+AP: $1,070

6. Miscellaneous: $180

My total expenditure thus far is = $3, 801

About 13 months for me (9 months to NOA 2, 1 month to interview and approval, 1 week to wedding and AOS app, 3 months to GC), but some K1s are going really fast now, so from filing the petition to EAD could be as little as 6 or 7 months if everything goes smoothly, and the stars align, (and you get married immediately).

There are other fees, like mailings, plane tickets, hotel stays, medical fees, etc.

These are JUST the immigration filing fees:

I-129F petition fee: $340
Visa processing fee: $240
Adjustment of Status fee: $1070
Removal of Conditions fee: $590
Naturalization fee: $680

Total from petition to citizenship: $2920

Timelines vary. It depends on how long it takes for your I-129F petition to be approved and then how long it takes your case to go through the NVC and onto your consulate and how long it takes to get an interview. A few months to a year? After you are in the US and married, you file for AOS and it will take around 90+ days to receive the EAD/AP after filing.

Agree with Jay-Kay!

The immigration fees are "just the tip of the iceberg." She alluded to the other fees, mailings, tickets, lodging, meals, etc..... those costs can really add up quickly!

Timelines do vary greatly!

This entire process is not for the faint of heart, nor light of wallet. ;)

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)
