I missed the fact that he is on AP. I thought you were talking about expediting at USCIS and weren't approved yet.

My bad.

I correct my other comment and would say that being in AP there is zero chance for expedite at the embassy, not for Ebola or anything else

including Armageddon.

haha yess in ap at embassy yeah i was just trying to see the opinion of others.

Also I would think about it as a reason to deny - why potentially bring somebody that has this thing in US ?

And you think if my husband has it hell be able to leave to the us ? God forbid that happening

Also, the appropriate term of reference for countries categorized economically as such is *developing countries*. "3rd world" is a derogatory term coined by those pretentious and economically clueless Bretton woods institutions.

Actually, 'third world' was coined to identify countries that were neither aligned with the US/Allies or the Soviet Union/Allies during the Cold War. Switzerland would be considered 'third world'. The original connotation had nothing to do with economics or development.

I think and hope not.

From what I've read about Ebola by the time someone realises they are sick with it they are not going anywhere.

Does anyone know if humans can actually be carriers (I know bats and monkeys can) rather than just getting sick and infecting others?

Luckily it's still pretty rare but thinking of the OP and her husband as the text messages and alerts must be scary.

Wrong! "Non-Aligned Movement Countries was the term or coined name for the movement for countries not aligned with the US or the USSR during the cold ward. See these links. I'm talking about economic connotation.

Let's not let this topic degenerate into something else. We can debate that in the *Off topic* forum. See links.

Not log term but technically could short term after recovery.

Ebola has a human fatality rate of 50-90%. But what of those who survive this terrible death? This, another mysterious aspect of the virus, is answered partly by observations of natural antibodies to Ebola formed in some survivors' bodies. The only protective defense the body provides is a specifically-binding, neutralizing antibody formed in the lymph glands, where the first viral replication often occurs. (Normally the antibodies are not produced quickly enough to battle the pathogen; even in cases where they do grant endurance to a patient, they are no guarantee against re-infection.) The surviving patient also has the advantage that Ebola is self-limiting when ineffective in a human host (although it has been detected 30 days or more after an infection in semen and in the vitreous of the eye and little chance exists of spreading the disease after recovery.

There is a confirmed outbreak in Guinea and Liberia and suspected in Sierra Leone. While a person often dies soon after the onset of symptoms, they can be infected with it for weeks before developing symptoms. Given the public health risks associated with the virus, I would be very surprised if they expedite the case. In fact, I am thinking that they are far more likely to delay it because of risk to others if he has a latent infection. They will not allow people with a number of TREATABLE communicable diseases in the country until a full course of treatment has been completed (TB for example), so I cannot imagine that they will be too eager to allow someone from an area with an ongoing Ebola outbreak to come. I don't know this for sure, but you can probably ask the CDC since they are the ones that advise the Dept. of State regarding these issues. I am so sorry though; I cannot imagine how worried you must be.

Yeah it is tough... but it turns out the messages is just to make sure people are aware of it and take care of themselves and not travel and do certain things. Thank god theres nothing here now ! And u pray it stays that ways
