so I have looked at all the visa info that I have come upon and know it pretty much by heart, but I havent started yet. I am in US and husband is abroad. I was just hoping someone who's already completed the whole visa process could tell me how long it really does take, hearing it from someone who has actually been through it might help me. I've read the estimate for the whole ordeal is about 400 days, and I was hoping things might not be that long. :/

MMjohnson,

My husband is in Mexico as well.

We sent in the I-130 Feb 5, 2104. It was sent to the Nebraska Service Center. Their processing times are currently 5 months so in theory we should get approval and sent to NVC by July 5, 2014 or later.

From what I gather, the NVC is averaging 56 days to case completion. I'm not sure how long after that an interview could be scheduled, but I'm hoping it's 60 days or less.

I don't know if that helps you, but I wish you the best of luck. Have you filed the I-130?
