Stop whining about waiting 3 weeks. Many of us had to wait months. When you applied, you were told that it could take 5 months. Expect the worst.

Plus, the speed that two distinct offices, hundreds and hundreds of miles apart, has nothing to do with "equality." What a ridiculous thing to say. Some move more quickly, some more slowly. People within the offices work at different paces.

I know it sucks to see that California moves quicker, but you'll torture yourself more by trying to make comparisons.

While I agree with your comments about torturing yourself by comparing the two service centers....I don't think the OP was whining about waiting three weeks.

I noticed that you waited 76 days for your NOA2 - many TSC filers (myself included!) would be happy to receive a NOA2 in that time frame. :)

Umm.. does the following not sound like a whine?

"It's been 3 weeks since we've applied, but I already know I'll wait for at least 5 months. This is so unfair... It's gotten to the point that seeing CSC approvals make me depressed and sad. Why is the USA doing this to us?"

I was lucky to get it in 76 days. Sure. But I was ready to wait 5 months. And I certainly didn't whine about not receiving it after 3 weeks. You, Lorella, are in a better position to be frustrated having waited since December (though I'm not sure what politics are involved in a petition for Cuba), but 3 weeks? Really?

She will probably get hers before 5 months, as is the experience for many at TSC. But to complain at three weeks that others are getting it quicker is ridiculous.

It is like being jealous that someone else got a bigger piece of cake from another restaurant....

That's a good argument, except you choose which restaurant you go to. For a Petition Service Center, there is no choice. The fees are the same but the service is not.

hello. :)

I guess what i was getting at was that the OP's complaints did not appear to be specifically related to having waited three weeks - but rather that they know it will be 5+ months of waiting while others are receiving approvals in a much shorter time frame. i don't think the OP was saying that they expected their approval already - just voicing frustration about the process in general.

It seems that to all of us still waiting for a response there is no really acceptable justification for the length of time it is taking to process our petitions. We are October 2013 filers. No actions since November 4th and that was just to asign my fiance an Alien Registration number.Put in a service request after the posted waiting period listed on the USCIS website.

After 17 days of waiting for a response called and talked to a Tier 1 officer. She explained that there was a response to my service request and told me that the petition was put on hold awaiting completion of security checks. She was pleasant and tried to be helpful. Asked to speak with a Tier 2 officer to find out if they could explain about the security checks. First Tier seemed confident that someone would be able to give me more information concerning my case.

Tier 2 officer was not pleasant from the beginning. Ask my question about pending security checks. Answer: "We can't give out that information over the phone." Asked if there was any addtional information about my case or if there was a problem with the petition that was holding the process up. Tier 2 put me on hold and after about ten minutes came back on the phone and abuptly stated, the process takes 6 to 7 months and we are well within the time frame. Wouldn't give me anymore information and actually just hung up the phone once they told me about the waiting period. So the answer from the USCIS was to shut up and wait until they want to finish processing the petition.

I am a US Citizen from birth, can trace family back 5 generations for sure. Fiance is a wonderful man I met over the internet over 7 years ago. We have met in person in 2010 for the first time in Costa Rica. Then I traveled to Peru. He attended my nieces wedding here in the USA in 2011 so lots of pictures. All my friends and family have met him and love him. He came to visit 2 more times and we have traveled together during his visits. We vacationed together in Mexico in August of 2013 and I visited in Peru in December of 2013. We are meeting again in Mexico in May. We chat everyday via phone, or text message, or skype, or facetime. I can't imagine after all the information that was supplied to the USCIS that there is any doubt about our relationship. Addtionally, Security Checks? Neither I or my fiance have never been arrested, always paid our taxes, I have worked at the same job for over 13 years. I have lived in the same place for almost 4 years. He has lived in the same place his entire life. So tell me what could they possibly want? Not like they can't find us.

The kindness we give to others may never be recognized by the ugly souls we encounter in the vast jungle of humanity, but what we give will echo brilliantly in the smiles of those who have received it.

Oh my goodness! Almost 7 months and waiting still :( That is too long.

I don't see why a security check would take this long unless you had a name similar to a known criminal on a watch list?

I can't believe they hung up on you! That's bloody rude

I so hope that you get your NOA2 very soon. Have you contacted your local congressmen?

Thanks for the comments. I think it is best to wait at least the 7 months as the 2 tier officer implied was the normal processing time before contacting my congressmen. As far as my name is concerned I have a very rare family name. I did research in the past and discovered I am the only person in the USA with my full name. So unless some very distant relative unknown to me decided to give their poor child the same first and middle name then I am good to go.

Please let us know how it goes contacting you congressmen. I read recently the time to contact them is 5 month waiting period + 1 month. So you are well within your rights to contact them now, but if you wish to wait I understand.

I had a look at the last TSC NOA2 received in the timelines here, says it was 17th April, so a week ago! Surely Texas has approved more since a week?!

Let's face it, the system is not fair and never will be. Two years ago when I applied, CSC was approving at 2-3 months, while VSC (where I was stuck at) was approving at 6-8 months. You may also be stuck again at some slow service center or local office for your AOS, ROC, and citizenship. If there is one thing that US immigration has taught me, it is LOTS and LOTS of patience. Try not to be too frustrated - you can't change their approval rates, but you can change your outlook on this whole process and make the best of it. When this is over, you will be with your loved ones forever. :)

Good luck to everyone waiting.

Well said!!! This is just a short portion of the rest of our lives. I understand frustration but some people want to use yard sticks to measure who has it worse. Before we started this process we knew ALL knew it could take 5 months to get an NOA1. Life isn't fair but you just roll with the punches. Once 5 months pass then the complaining can begin. If people can't manage to see others receive an NOA2 maybe they should take a break from VJ and stop agonizing themselves.

Yes approaching 160 days here..(

Wait 2 months for NOA2 and telling people to stop complaining, its funny))

I understand what he is saying about the torturing yourself though. It is true, its all out of our control guys, just have to sit back and wait.

I don't see any thing wrong with whining, true it will not make the petition get approved faster, but it might help some people get over the stress by venting. That is the reason why we have this site isn't it? Not only to get a huge amount of useful information, but to help each other during these difficult time in our lives. Everyone deals with stress in his or her own way, and its not for any of us to judge someone on how they deal with this very difficult process. Lets just support one another and understand that we are all individuals. So complain, complain, complain, if it helps you with dealing with this process by all means complain!!!

My fiancé is Filipina, and believe me I have to deal with her crying all the time because we miss each other soooo much, I just stay positive and make her feel loved and secured. I do all in my power to assure her that know matter how long this process takes, I will wait for her until the end of time. We are all in this process because we found that special someone far far away, and we knew from the start that the person you fell so deeply in love with was the one you have been searching for your whole life. So every second away from your true love feels like and eternity. We know it can take 5,6,7,8, or even 9 months for this whole thing to over with, but knowing all of that does not make it any easier to deal with. True its a small potion of our lives together, but its still a part of our lives we could never get back. Life is very short and knowing that, is the real reason we want this process to be over with quickly. I am happier for those who received their NOA2 quickly, but I will be fooling my self if I did not wished, that it was us who got approved instead of those who got approved faster than we did.

I truly love this forum, because it helps to know that we are not alone in this process, and if I feel like complaining or venting, someone will understand and complain along with me!! Lets just support one another and in a few months time, we will be the ones encouraging and lifting the spirits of new VJ members, helping them deal with this difficult, but yet beautiful and amazing journey!!! Good luck to all!!!

Unfortunately, it has always been thus. When we went through the process in 2012, it was CSC and Vermont SC. Vermont was way faster. We were at CSC and waited 9 months for NOA2.
