So, a 'live person' should look up the correct and current filing fee for you and just tell you what it is? Fees can change and the most accurate information about filing the petition would come from the USCIS website about the petition you are filing. It has nothing to do with treating you like an idiot. You can never go wrong with following the USCIS form instructions. This is a DIY website. Links to the correct information you need is a large part of the purpose of this site.

Well I needed this thread. It brought my attention to the fact that I didn't fully understand that there's an additional $240. I already paid $340 for I-129 fee & already have almost all of my AOS fee saved up but lacked some knowledge on the Visa fee. Now I know. So this thread helped me already. I did look it up! That's what I said! You are treating me like an idiot. I usually enjoy seeing your replies but all of yours today have been rude. I was asking if I understood it correctly because I had already used the links. Throwing MORE links at me was not helpful. The whole purpose of using this site was for the live person responses. I am fully capable of looking up information myself & I had already visited those links. Shoot me for asking for confirmation of what I had already found.

I definitely agree. Though I think $240 would have shocked the heck out of me and made me panic a little! I'm in accounting and a major number cruncher. An extra $240 not in my budget would have given me a mini-heart attack!

There's also the medical fee of $210 prior to your fiance's visa interview in Moscow. http://moscow.usembassy.gov/iv-medinfo.html

Just in case you don't know yet.

I'm sure A&B and Jay-Kay mean well, guys. Reading on your US consulate website can really help and I'm sure you'll learn more of these info from there. :)

I didn't mean to get testy, just don't like being talked down to or made to feel inadequate because I asked a question. I am intelligent enough to find most of it on my own, and I did. Just wanted confirmation. The sites for the Russian consulate are misleading or not fully updated, from what I've seen. I was having issues with all that too, but decided I wouldn't ask & just keep looking myself. Thank you for your kind responses, sweet cakes. It is truly appreciated.

Hi,

Question, how come your timeline shows TSC Texas Service Center if you haven't filed the petition yet?

I am just curious if that's the default option when creating a timeline...

Rgds,

I already paid $340 for I-129 fee & already have almost all of my AOS fee saved up but lacked some knowledge on the Visa fee. Now I know. So this thread helped me already. This link is great: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html

Keep in mind, there are a lot expenses that you have to spend for this immigration journey. From filing I-129F to K-1 visa process including hidden costs.

Let me breakdown how much my immigration journey was cost so far:

- filing petition ( $340) paid by my fiancé

- sent documents to my fiancé in the US ( letter intent of marry, G-325A, passport photo size) was cost $30 paid by me

-medical examination ( embassy stage for K-1 visa process) was cost $130 paid by me

- visa fee ( $240) paid by me

- flights tickets for my fiancé came to my interview and went back together to the US with my 2 cats and belongings total cost $7000 paid by my fiancé

-all expenses in Jakarta paid by me ( it wasn't cheap since I lived in the capital city)

I learned the process since 2011 and my fiancé filed for me in 2013. I spent many hours reading posts everyday, searching - Google is your friend-, subscribed K-1 visa forum, and the embassy portal. I know sometimes the instruction on these websites are very vague but my fiancé and I went through all of confusions and we got approved for I-129F in 38 days without RFE. VJ was really helped us a lot.

For OP:

My advise is, subscribe the US embassy portal for Russians on VJ and K-1 visa forum. The information on embassy portal reviews for Indonesians helped me a lot. Overall, filing petition is basically same for all countries but when came to K-1 visa process each embassy has their own requirements. Even though you are still at petition stage but by learn the next steps will give you a peace of mind and avoid "panic mode". I already studied all the process from I-129F to citizenship so in the future I don't have to worry and wonder about what do I need to do for the next steps. Good luck for the rest of your journey.

You're right. I guess I shouldn't make it seem as if I'm unaware of the other costs besides fees. I am aware of the costs & have made my Fiancee aware of those costs as well. Like mailing stuff & medical & what not. I hadn't mentioned them as, to me, they seem inherent. But you're right. You have to plan for that stuff as well. Luckily for me, my Fiancee & I both are doing everything we can to see this through. One person is not trying to float the whole ship alone.
