Greetings,

I decided to start this thread for my local field office of Miami. The idea is that any present and future, active or passive user of this forum petitioning under this jurisdiction can find and share anecdotes that better manage their expectations throughout the process. It made more sense to start a separate thread rather than post in the March 2014 forum (my "home" forum) since I'm currently the only petitioner under the Miami jurisdiction in the March 2014 thread.

Panem today, Panem tomorrow, Panem forever...

Processing Times Estimate: 126 days (4.2 months)

A friend of mine recently submitted his N-400 petition and I elicited the details of his rather interesting timeline (details below). Coincidentally, we also have a third mutual friend whose petition is near to being adjudicated. These two timelines, together with the timeline of a December 2013 thread petitioner (gringasuramerican), lead me to estimate* an average processing time of 4.2 months for recent N-400 petitions at the Miami Field Office.

Friend's Timeline:

25-Nov: Petiton Submitted

27-Dec: Original bio-metrics appointment (friend had conflicting travel plans and requested to re-appear as a walk-in within thirty days; request approved)

17-Jan: Recorded bio-metric data at a walk-in appointment

11-Mar: Received interview invitation for 08-April

08-Apr: Passed interview in Miami; was offered a slot for his Naturalisation Oath Ceremony for 11-Apr (declined due to conflicting travel plans, office advised him to inform them of his return and pick a date that would suit him)

Mutual Friend's Timeline:

17-Jan: Petiton Submitted

18-Feb: Bio-metrics appointment

15-Apr: Received interview invitation for 13-May

gringasuramerican's Timeline:

30-Nov: Petiton Submitted

03-Dec: I-797C Date (Notice of Action)

02-Jan: Bio-metrics appointment

10-Mar: Received interview invitation for 08-April

08-Apr: Passed interview in Miami; was offered a slot for her Naturalisation Oath Ceremony for 11-Apr

11-Apr: Naturalisation Oath Ceremony

* To complete the second timeline, I have assumed that the petitioner will benefit from being scheduled for his Naturalisation Oath Ceremony three days after the interview which seems to be the trend at the Miami Field Office.

For the first two timelines, I subtracted three days each from the total processing timelines since neither individual remembered when they received their initial I-797Cs (when the processing timeline clock really begins), so I assumed that their cases were received and assigned priority dates three days after being dispatched.

The first timeline was of a petitioner who had been eligible for over a year, and who may have distorted his processing time by delaying his original bio-metric appointment.

Good luck to all Mimai Field Office petitioners.
