Even though that site doesn't comply with IMBRA, you will still have to answer the questions about how you both met. The main thing is that your fiancee needs to be informed about any convictions you might have for spousal abuse, criminal or drug convictions or previous applications for fiancee visas. Review the information about IMBRA and determine if there is anything that you need to disclose to your fiancee before she hears about it at an embassy interview.

They are allowing waivers for various reasons, not just the ones that the guidelines indicate.

hi, i'm planning to start the k1 process soon, and i have met my fiance on a site that does not comply with the imbra laws, will it shut me down for good? or are they allowing waivers? thanks, clayt3

When you say it does not comply.... are you indicating it should or they beleive they are exempt?

YMMV

i'm not understanding how a site complies with the imbra law, nor would i expect a site to make mention of the law.

A site can comply with the requirements of IMBRA if they have the USC fill out a background questionnaire (convictions, etc...) and then queries the name against the National Sex Offenders database. This information has to be performed and supplied to the non-USC prior to allowing the release of his/her personal information (e-mail or snail mail address), for example.

YMMV
