Hi all:

My fiancé and I want to schedule a trip together, but we are afraid that the embassy interview schedulers will assign us a date that takes place when we are gone.

Does anyone know if we can request certain dates to be off limits when we notify them of readiness? Or if it is in any way not horrifically complicated to request a change in dates should this happen--how long would the delay be?

Thanks!!

The Readiness for Interview form is submitted when you are "ready". If you are traveling, then you aren't ready to be in London for an interview, right? So take care of the other two things (visa application and medical exam) and submit the other form when you are actually available to attend an interview. It's an online form so could be submitted from most anywhere. I would suggest submitting it two weeks before the end date of your trip.

Well. You are a boss wizard like Gandalf. Thanks for all your help--your London guides especially are calming my dear future husband as he preps for his medical and interview :)

Nope, not British. No beard. American female. Former elementary school teacher. I have children older than yourself.

Not a reader of fiction either, especially wizardy things. i've never even read Harry Potter or seen one of the movies even though we have all of them on DVD. The only character name I know is Harry. My husband, who is an avid reader, was amused by this. I take it as a compliment, so Thanks!

Ah! Forgive me, I thought you were the beneficiary not the petitioner, and for some reason in reading your posts I knew the British one was the male spouse!

But you're still a Gandalf to me!!! (Hey, I'd totally love to be Gandalf too. Maybe I will one day! Thanks again :) )
