Welcome! Marry soon; then, for AOS & work permit (EAD), read the Guides. For driver's license, read your state's DMV rules... or see the pinned thread in this forum. Library card should be easiest. No clue re NCLEX.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Goodluck everyone!!

Welcome to America!

For civil marriage, contact your county clerk for the procedure. You can simply google using the ff key terms: Name of your county California marriage license".

AOS & EAD guides, agreed with TBonetx: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

-Read on the actual form instructions carefully to avoid confusions in filing.

For driver's license, search up DMV in California for the requirements (http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dlapp_lnks.htm). If you haven't had a license back in PH, you will have to go get a learner's permit first. In most states (if not all), the learner's permit will expire with the I-94. So, most K1s wait for the EAD/AP card or GC until they can go to DMV. You can also visit DMV to get a driver's manual for your reading pleasures. It's free (at least here n NJ).

Me too, no clue with NCLEX. Maybe these links will help:

https://www.ncsbn.org/171.htm

https://www.ncsbn.org/nclex.htm

For the library card, Uhhhmmm.... Maybe best to ask your fiance if he can help you with this.

All the best!

CES is not a requirement for California BON. You just need your transcript from an accredited program from the Philippines. California BON checks the validity themselves, however, they have become much stricter now. They are requiring concurrency of Lectures and RLE, e.g. they want to see OB lecture and OB RLE done during the same semester, at the same time. In the Philippines, we usually have the lecture first and then the next semester we do the RLE. They have been rejecting alot of international nclex applications and wanting them to "retake" courses to be concurrent. Its alot of #######, since the year before I was able to get my California license, but my batchmates who applied a year later still can't get approved in California. It really sucks because they live in California.

California is the only state being a about "concurrency." You can't even do the endorsement route either, since California has the same endorsement application requirements as a new application. So you can't go get your license say in Nevada, and then endorse it to California.

Anyway good luck. Visit allnurses.com and see if this problem is still going on.

I JUST GOT MARRIED!!!!!

We went at Norwalk Los Angeles county and was scheduled a week after to get married. And viola! im a MRS. oh my that was fast!!!

i can say i was at total shock, i was only on my second week here in the US absorbing living in a new house, new place, adapting speaking english all the time, among all wife life is the easiest! so on my wedding day i was like floating, witnesses there are all the support i got, thanks to them, away from the faces i wanted to see as i say I do, family back in the PH, are not there. it felt ordinary...

however as the judge told us, look at each other, and as we do she speaks of love love love, i was teary. i love him. he is the essence of every bit of the sacrifices, with him i find happiness. so a that very moment, looking at him, i felt marriage.

It has been two weeks since our marriage and we are waiting for our official marriage certificate. i cannot get any ID or transact papers waiting so long for it...

What to do? besides being a happy wife? haha

Tips/advises? stories like mine??

Faith can move mountains :D
