OK our case was held up in customs for only 7 days ( so that's good ) and now it's been delivered to the US Consulate in Guangzhou. Does anyone know the next steps. It's for a CR1 case.

you are an outlier,

a paper casefile coming out of NVC.

Most folk for your visa type use EP instead.

you should set up an account at ustraveldocs.com/cn

and

attempt to self-schedule,

when the ceac status says 'READY'

but - who knows? not enough reports on paper casefiles here, this year.

it could very well be that the IV Unit handles the scheduling after opening the casefile. (like they used to do, prior to EP)
