If finding a kidney donor is your main decision maker on Europe or the US, I'd check waitinglists and chances before making an immigration decision.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Because he has a pre existing condition and the fact he can not become a public charge you would either have to pay hugely expensive insurance or pay out of pocket for him. With his medical state i am sure they will demand that you prove you have the money to cover his medical needs before issuing a visa. the chances of getting a visa are slim unless you have a lot of money in the bank. Get a few quotes on insurance.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
