It's not a game, words have meanings. Atheism has a very specific meaning, it's the lack of belief in a deity. Because I lack belief in a deity does not mean I have replaced that non belief with a belief in atheism. That makes no sense, I can't believe in an absence of belief in a deity, that's not a belief system. So, it's not a game but it is a question of comprehension, you need to understand the terminology you use, I do.

Your understanding of morality is equally flawed. The principal of the universal declaration of human rights is an easy to understand moral framework and does not require a belief in any external deity to ensure it's validity. Once you understand this, all your confusion will clear up instantly. It's not imposed on me or anyone else, it's an agreement to uphold basic principals of freedom and equality, an agreement, not an imposition. A religious based moral framework typically delves into areas that are of no business to anyone outside of a certain curtain twitching nosiness. I know you get hung up on this but I have no idea why, it's not that difficult of a concept.

Is the United Nations your foundation of morality?

NOw this is interesting, I highlight the fact that all morals are subjective not just those based on religion and you turn right around and throw out the The principal of the universal declaration of human rights.

As quick as a fundementalist might reach for the bible.

Except the Bible has stood the test of time, has The principal of the universal declaration of human rights ever even been ratified?

Lets just be thankful you were not born before ww2, not sure what you would refer to then.

That was a government decision? Wowzer, the US totally sucks!

Well yes of course some times Gov't make these moves but the places which exhibit this type of control are not everywhere... in fact it is one of the great things about the USA, you can find likeminded areas to live in and escape that over reaching hand of Gov't that tells a business person he is not welcome to do business because of his religious creed.

Of course State colleges are another area of concern, one would expect "free speech zones" in China, not on any college campus and certainly not on a State campus but thats exactly what we see sweeping over places where liberal (small L) education used to flourish, now it seems just Liberals flourish there.

No Danno, the UN is not my foundation of morality. The fact that you ask that, and whether the universal declaration of human rights has been ratified highlights, once again, our fundamental misunderstanding of this issue. I have nothing to add, if it's not clear you now, it never will be.

Unbelievable, really, this is not thought, this is nonsense.

Newsflash. There are people in the world who do not believe as you do. They think you are wrong. So, what's the answer? Genocide?

You do not have to like homosexuality, you do not have to approve of it, but you do have to allow people to be what they are without imposing your own sense of outrage and disgust on the actions and behaviours of others. I am not sure why you think it would be necessary to exterminate people who find homosexuality offensive, that's a completely egregious suggestion. People who find homosexuality offensive do not have to do anything at all, homosexuals do not go around asking heterosexuals to refrain from being heterosexual, just follow normal laws of decency, everyone can manage that.

Why stop the conversation or the tolerance with men having sex with men

when there are so many other orientations floating around?

For instance there are people who genuinely have romantic love for livestock and pets, they feel we should be enlightened enough to break down the social barriers to such love and relationships.

They want to come out of the shadows and into the light of acceptance.

While legal marriage might be unrealistic ....still couldn't you include them in your defense of rights?

How about the man who says nature has wired him to love many women not just one? Or the family members who want to be close... and not condemned.

Sex is such a wide open field with endless possibilities yet we hear the bold among us afraid to move beyond sodomy.... as they lecture us.

Danno just cannot help but compare homosexuality to other things. He's incapable of having a rational discussion about the subject. It always turns to animals, children or incest.

There are a lot of Christians in China today who meet in private homes and offices for fellowship. There are a few churches, but not many. The Chinese government has a limited tolerance to these meetings and keeps a watchful eye to make sure they do not become politically radicalized. For now, Chinese Christians have more freedom in China than what American Christians do in America.

I had gone to the Anglican Church in Wuhan at least twice on each visit. My wife would not go with me, citing that the church was watched by a CCP committee (sp?) and she not want to get on any list.

The Rector there (now) is a good friend of mine, and tells me that about 6 months ago the CCP stopped monitoring them. I view that as a plus.

When I did the transit from Liverpool to Wuhan, I'd always bring in a stack of religious stuff from the rector at my fav church in Liverpool, handing it over to the Rector in Wuhan. Does that make me a mule? oh my !

Anyway - the evangelical movement is larger than the Anglican or Catholic movement in China - so the numbers are increasing (IMO).

No, I'm not a lay-member of the clergy, anywhere (not even in Texas) but ....

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Which in essence means that China is on course to become the world's most second-class-christian nation, within 15 years.... There are so many flavors of christianity it is difficult to take any of them seriously.

Chinese fight on THAI flight (video)

Thai Airways International PCL on Wednesday clarified the details of an incident caught on video involving a mid-air fight among three Chinese tourists on a THAI flight from Bangkok to Beijing.

The incident occurred on Feb 12 after a Chinese man refused a flight attendant’s request to return his seat to the upright position during a meal, said Chatree Pongsak, director of THAI’s flight operations safety department.

The passenger insisted he want to keep on sleeping, prompting two other Chinese, a man and a woman, who were sitting at the back, to shake his seat in a bid to force him to adjust it. A heated argument followed and turned into a fist fight, during which objects were thrown.

The incident was video taped by a passenger who later uploaded the 1.31-minute clip on YouTube on Feb 15. The uploader, using the name "Syver Lauritzsen", posted that “the argument became a little too heated for the guy on the left, and he had to be extracted from the plane by paramedics. He seemed to be fine.”

Thai Airways Nixes Metal Cutlery After a Mid-Flight Brawl
cn_image.size.Thai-Airways-cutlery-Nick-

Whatever happened to table manners? Tourists leaving the Land of Smiles weren't all smiles during a Thai Airways flight to Beijing last Thursday, when three Chinese passengers got into a brawl with stainless steel flatware. The in-flight battle resulted in a bloody gash and the end of the Metal Age: The Asian flag carrier announced today that it will trial plastic cutlery to prevent future incidents. The official explanation is that the airline wants to prevent terrorist acts, though no yogurt spoon or bread knife has been used by potential hijackers in the history of aviation.

So goodbye, classy tableware, and hello, tacky (not to mention environmentally damaging) plastic—all this, allegedly because one passenger was eating too loudly.

It may be wide open to you, but for most adults it's not any sort of an issue. If two adults mutually consent to a sexual experience then society has no business prattling on about it ad nausea . The key word is informed consent of adults. We do not need to even think about children or animals as they can't consent as an informed adult. We already have people who have multiple partners, society has long ago ceased to worry about that. Family members? Even the bible allows for sex amongst family members, just not sons/daughters/sisters/brothers. Not sure why you think there are clamoring hordes wanting society's approval of this type of relationship, I doubt there are and they are unlikely to get it, for rather obvious reasons, so no, allowing homosexuals to live normal lives is not a downward, spirally slope to somewhere bad, it simply allows adults to be themselves without fear of persecution and condemnation. Seems like a good idea to me, and one that follows basic moral principals. Who knew?
