Congrats on the approval.

I've always been curious about something every time I read about couples that go the route you did, which is to come to the U.S. with no intention of getting married, then marry spontaneously, and then adjust status.

My question is.... what did you do about your job and home (rental apartment or house you own) and all your belongings after you married and you couldn't return to your home country until your AOS (or AP) was approved.

I visited my fiance often (we only lived 3 hours from each other) before we started the K-1 process, but I could never have just abandoned my job and my apartment without knowing how long it was going to be before I could return to deal with everything.

I'm just curious and would be interested what any couples who adjusted the way you did, have to say.

Well, I was in an interesting situation. I had just graduated from University and my lease was up at the end of April and so I moved all of my stuff back to my parent's house since I was going to leave the city (Montreal) to go live with them in a smaller city and start working with my dad again. It was going to be my chance to start paying my parents back for the money they spent on my tuition. I'd been working my ### off and going to school full time and needed a break so I told my dad that I'd start up with him in the fall, and that I was going to spend the summer travelling, road trips, etc. before starting a career. My boyfriend said "Why don't you spend the summer here?" and so I packed a small suitcase and took a greyhound bus to Baltimore. We weren't really sure what we wanted to do, we just knew we wanted to be together. We'd been visiting each other like every 10-12 days while dating and I thought this was a great idea. It was a great way to see where the relationship would go but there was definitely no intention of getting married. So I had already left my job in the city, already moved my stuff to my parents house and had lots of free time so it worked in my favour.

The only problem I had was closing accounts and trying to pay final bills for electricity, phone, internet, etc. Oh and the fact that now all my stuff is sitting in boxes at my parents' house.. I haven't been able to get any of it since I'm not allowed to leave here! So in my situation, I was pretty lucky. It was all pretty easy. When the GC comes, we'll probably make the 10 hour drive to my parents' house to pick up the rest of my stuff.

My AOS interview is in 2 hours... in Baltimore. My husband and I will be taking the metro there in about 30 mins. I'm so nervous! We sat up all night reviewing files and evidence and photos... blah! I know it's always one of those "easier than it seemed" situations, but we're still nervous wrecks.

Wish us luck!! I'll let you all know how it went... hopefully good news to follow!!!!!

Best of luck to you! Bring home that green card!!
