There's Eastern Ukraine's big F-U for Vladimir Vladimirovich.

Most in east Ukraine region against joining Russia

A majority of inhabitants in Ukraine's pro-Russian protest hub Donetsk do not want to join Russia but consider the government in Kiev to be illegitimate, according to a poll published Saturday.

52.2 percent of people questioned in the region, the focal point of separatist unrest that has seen pro-Moscow militants seize a string of towns, said they were against joining Russia while 27.5 percent favoured rule from Ukraine's former Soviet master Moscow.

Among the 3,200 respondents across Ukraine's entire Russian-speaking southeast, the number of those opposed to Moscow taking control rose to 69.7 percent, according to the poll from Kiev's Institute for International Sociology published in the Russian-language Weekly Mirror newspaper.

In the Donetsk region, where separatists have declared an independent republic and demanded a referendum on autonomy, 38.4 percent said they backed Kremlin demands to federalise Ukraine and 41 percent said they wanted a decentralisation of power.

Inhabitants in the east remain highly suspicious of Kiev's interim authorities, who took over from pro-Moscow president Viktor Yanukovych after his ouster in February following months of bloody protests.

Some 74 percent of respondents said they consider acting President Oleksandr Turchynov to be illegitimate, the poll said.

Russia, which NATO says has some 40,000 troops on the border, has said it has the right to intervene militarily in Ukraine to protect Russian speakers and has denied Western allegations that it is behind the separatist unrest.

But 57.2 percent of those polled in Donetsk said they felt their rights have not been violated and 66.3 percent said they were against a Russian military intervention.

Polls are interesting though not all that meaningful.

For instance, did we concern ourselves with poll numbers when we took it on ourselves to lend support to rebel forces in Libya to bring down that regime?

Nope, we acted all on our own. Is there an international rule of law or not?

While Kiev seemed to support burning the President out of his office did we concern ourselves with what national polls were on the issue?

Nope, none the less we moved ahead with our support for these "peaceful protester" in maiden.

We even warned the President he better not act against them or we would sanction UKRAINE. (and we did)

Take note of the date on this video (jan) this who Obama called Peaceful protesters.

Imagine if this were the TEA PARTY.... would we consider this a 'Peaceful protest".... how would Obamer have responded... with the same restrain he Warned Yanokovich to employ?

The bottom line is all about NATO, we want it in there and by hook or crook we will see it done.

Just remember an attack on one member of NATO is an attack on all members.

In other words, we are laying the foundation for WW3 should a little country like Estonia get into a riff with Russia.

Should we be risking getting pulled into a war with a nuclear country over another European squabble?

Had Ukraine already been in NATO we might already have put those wheels in motion over Crimea.

Oh boy, here we have Putin's troll peddling Putin's propaganda again. Come up with something original once, Danno, why don't you?

LOL your words don't speak nearly as loud as the actions presented here.

Bro, no one looks at that and see "peaceful protester" no one.

I think what went on in Crimea looked like a tea party compared to this.

IN that case a few Ukrain millitary guys got their feelings hurt... at least the ones who did not cross over to join TEAM PUTIN.

(Can you blame them, the pay was considerably more)

For now. Give them more time to think about it. :)

There's no contradiction there as far as I can see. The transitional government certainly lacks legitimacy but that does not mean in any way, shape or form that people in Ukraine want to join Russia.

It appears from the posts here that people who lived in (or are married to someone who lived in) one of the former SSR republics are not the most objective people when it comes to Russia. It also seems to be easier for them to label us as Putin trolls rather than to just admit where they are coming from.

In essence the Putin trolls have engaged the anti - Putin trolls in a debate that cannot be won.

so they don't want to join Russia and they believe the government in Kiev is illegitimate..

now what.?

another referendum.?

Well, no. It's called an election. It's scheduled to be held next month. The election will restore legitimacy - so long as it is a free election and not some Russian style circus masquerading as an election.

No, I wasn't a fan of either. The former less than the latter. But that does not mean that I am anti-Russian either. The issue is the blatant disregard for international law that Putin's Russia has put on display. As such, I am as much anti-Putin as I was anti-Bush. For much the same reason. I don't like war-mongers. And having been anti-Bush did and does not make me anti-American either regardless of what the right wingers and neo-cons claimed back in the day.

It seems to me if an American movement where to converge on DC (Such as the TEA PARTY) and burn Mr. Obama out and this mob took control of the Gov't... you would be content to accept the new TEA PARTY orchestrated election results and just kick Obamer aside?

Many feel "They already had an election" and their candidate was driven from office illegally and unconstitutionally, meanwhile the Losers of that election are now in power.

No, Danno. That's just an illusion - and probably a bit of a wet-dream - of yours. Has nothing to do with the real world. But I wouldn't expect any different from you since you don't deal in reality.
