Green Card Interview

Can someone in VisaJourney Land answer a question for me? One of the required documents they are requesting we bring to the interview with us is the birth certificates of all my immigrant wife's children. All her children are adults, one is 19 one is 24 one is 30 and the other is 33 years of age.

None of them are here in the U.S. and they are not and never will be part of our process on the way to getting my wife her greencard. All her children are adults and most of them are married and have children of their own, no common sense to this request of their birth certificates.

We have them ordered and will be in our hands before the interview, that is not a problem, just like everything else in this USCIS process we have been involved in, does not make any sense at all, just like requesting the same proof and documents over and over and over again.

Thank you in advance if I can get an answer or reasoning to this.

Hi I am in the same predicament as your wife in that I have three children from my late wife, aged 21, 22, 23, & I sent off for copy's of there birth certificates just in case they asked for them at my interview. They may never ask for them but it's better to have them to hand just in case, you are right in saying that it's duplicating everything over & over, but on the bright side it will be over soon.

The birth certificates of older step children most likely will never be brought up because they are not really relevant for your AOS interview. I have a feeling that my 3 won't be brought up, but I thought better safe than not lol

Perhaps they want to know whether (if you have children) they would come into play as far as AOS goes. Meaning it's a way to know their ages absolutely, and if they're over 18 then they would not be considered a financial liability as far as judging AOS....?
