I know there are no specific income requirements stated in the directions of the I-134 but does anybody have any idea about how much the minimum amount a sponsor/petitioner has to earn or the amount in earnings and assets he/she has to have in order to meet the requirements of the Affidavit of Support WITHOUT needing a CO-sponsor? I read about the 125% of poverty level thing but I'm not sure if it applies to income AND assets, OR just assets? I guess a more simple question would be: Is $25,000 in annual income enough to complete the I-134 without a CO-sponsor? ANY opinions or facts would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

Yes $25,000 is enough to sponsor a fiancee if

I-864P (Poverty line guide)

Most consulates use the same requirements used by form I-864 since you are eventually sponsoring an immigrant, so the 125% poverty line is used as a rule.

Poverty line applies to income and assets.

You only need to list assets when income is less than 125%.

Assets count as 1/3 or income, so for example, for a person to sponsor an immigrant without any dependents like children 16,500 is needed to show, if income were 14,500, then $6,000 in assets are needed, to make up the difference.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

If the OP is by any chance in the military, then the standards are a little lower. You will only need a joint sponsor if you have a few (I think four?) kids in your custody! :) If you do have a few kids, might want to check on that number.

The 125% line is 16,500 and you can be $1 above that and be fine aslong as your sponsoring just 1 person.
