My fiance was granted a 6 month stay visiting with me here in U.S. which should cover the approximate 5 month processing time, Anybody with any personal experience or knowledge in regards to dealing with the Embassy in Costa Rica as far as her not being able to be notified because she is no longer available at her contact number and will not be able to pick up the next packet until WE fly back to get her medical and interview; assuming notification is within the 6 months that she's allowed to stay here/expiration of her B-2. I'm assuming I will get my email/text message notification upon approval and it's forwarding to the NVC & ultimately to the Embassy in Costa Rica.

1. Will we be able to schedule the interview instead of the Embassy doing so? And the purpose of that is so we can coordinate the medical and whatever other else that needs to be done.

2.. Can we obtain a police records check for her from here in the U.S. because by then she'll have been in the states for the past 6 months and not Costa Rica.

Thanks all!!

According to the info for your consulate, they call you once they receive your case, and you have to go in person to pick up the packet of instructions. So, once the petition is approved and sent through the NVC, you would need update the consulate with a good contact number, OR just simply have the foreign fiance(e) return home once the petition is approved. They will need to go back to get the instruction packet, have the medical and attend the interview anyway.

Yes, thank you. And I did have an opportunity to review those links you assisted me with, only I was wondering that if I can obtain the police record from here in the States since she'll have been stateside for the past 6 months. And I only say so because unless I am incorrect I believe the police record has to be from where the bride resided for the last 6 months. And please, do correct me if I am wrong.

I also did want to travel with her to help her get everything done in a timely manner and correctly. She's been under "my wing", per se, for nearly a year now.

Do you think we can get all accomplished

Oh, and do you think that if we plan ahead the interview and medical that we can possibly get it all done within 9 business days??

I am certain that the police record will have to be from Costa Rica because that's where she resides. Even if she stayed the full 6 months allowed on the B-2 to the last day, she is in the U.S. as a tourist and has never "resided" here.
