Anyone who thinks Brazil is European is just being silly.

the same could be said about any country outside of europe. if one wants european, go to europe.

But Bs As still looks like an European city...

And Brazilian cities don't... They look Brazilian...

Wow I just checked the plane ticket prices to Buenos Aires for July and they are around $1,300. But any ticket from where I live (Kansas City MO) is expensive LOL as this is the middle of nowhere! :help:

When would be off season/cheaper to South America?

Between Aug and Oct...

There are a few cheap travel sites. I found tickets there for 900 for early Oct. I think July *is* off-season for Bs As, right? Since it's cold and all...

It is not. July is like a second season, because it is cold and colder then other places in S. America...

so which european city can you compare it to?

So to you a city needs to look EXACTLY like another one to be called European?

The whole architecture been inspired on European cities has nothing to do with it, right?

ai ai ai... I saw that...

I have to disagree. You said and I quote: ''And Brazilian cities don't... They look Brazilian...'', if you go to cities like Pomerode, Blumenau, Gramado, they are also inspired in european architecture. It doesn't matter if they're not big cities, I would rather live in Blumenau than in a filthy place like B's A's.

Anyway, give me an example of a city that is tipically brazilian. Brazil doesnt have one type of city'only that you could say ''oh that city looks brazilian'', with one type of architecture. If you were from another country and you visit Salvador and then you visit Santa Maria and then Belo Horizonte, you could never say you're in the same country because the cities look similar, actually if it wasn't for the people speaking portuguese and they didn't tell you that you were in Brazil you could never guess all those cities are in Brazil at all...

I haven't noticed it either. But then again I never do say that. Religion stuff is not my forte.

it's acutally an easy one....It's a linguistics thing. The final "k" sound is not native to portuguese. It's a velar stop "K" followed by the voiced glottal G. Do it in your throat and you'll see that if you're not a native speaker of a language that uses those sounds, it's not a natural shift. Of course they can do it, but for Portuguese speakers it's much easier to precede the glottal G sound with the breathed fricative "S". pay attention to the sounds in your throat and you'll see!

actually, whenever you hear a piece of language that sounds "cute", it's usually because it's not a natural change in consonants or vowels for the speaker. Go ahead and say the word corazao or telecomunicacoes to a carioca and they'll smile and think it's cute.
