We got the hard copy. all they are asking for is the marriage certificate, that the copy we submitted is not valid. my question is, is the marriage certificate from the Nigeria federal government marriage registry in Ikoyi not valid. please help. maybe we got the wrong one. please help. we are given till July 11

July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

Generally, one would obtain the necessary document directly from the Registry AFTER the marriage is registered. What you described is a document that existed prior to your marriage being actually registered with the government. If that is correct, you indeed submitted the wrong document and will need to request a certified copy from the registry. You can respond to the RFE by scanning and emailing the certified document to the US Citizen to print and mail, but you'll need the original certified copy at the NVC stage, so use DHL or other carrier to get it to the US citizen soon.

A license to marry is not a marriage certificate, even if both end up being on the same page.

They are not asking for "it" again because they are not asking for what you sent. They don't want a certificate from the church. They want a certified copy of a government document that can only be produced AFTER your marriage is actually registered. Anything you had in your hand when you left the Church would NOT be the document needed. Obtain the needed certified copy of a government document, scan and email it to the petitioner so they can respond to the RFE, then courier the actual certified copy to the petitioner with your police report and any other original civil documents that will be needed at the NVC stage.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

They do not want the certificate from the church, that is more like a keepsake for you.

Forget that church certificate, license and application.

You have to submit an official 'certified' copy from the official registry and not the church. You don't have that in your hand yet.

An 'official certified' copy from the original document only the registry has is needed and you have to go and get it from the Ikoyi registry.

Nothing from the church.

Pushbrk said it well, follow his advice exactly and you will be fine.

Thank God. we got the Certified True Copy last week Wednesday and was sent same day through FedEx..........

Now at the immigration office at Ikoyi, am getting my wife NigerWife Visa.
