Hi!

I am currently a J1 visa from Philippines and soon to expire my current visa this September 2nd. Is it possible to change my visa to a working visa? Or is it possible to get a working permit while I have my current visa? If yes, How?

I really want to extend my stay here in US because it helps me a lot not only financially but it does help me learn more in the process of being s succesful hotelier in the field of hospitality.

I hope you can help me with this situation I have right now.

Thank you very much.

First you will need to find an Employer willing to sponsor you. I would start with your current Employer.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The visa granted to me is not covered bynthe 2 year residency requirement.

I already talked to my current employer if they are willing to sign papers to me and they said yes but the thing is the boss in higher position of the whole company doesnt support an H2B visa.. with regards to a working visa, how will it work with my current employer?

It will be a long and complicated process for any employee to sponsor H1B. I once worked for GM under my F1. They would not sponsor me but asked me to tell a school and file for OPT. I refused and I quit.

It is easier if you have a degree/license in health care like medical physician/nurse (mainly RN with bachelor's degree) and/or engineer or Software engineer.

Well, good luck. You might have a better luck than mine.

H2Bs are for temporary, seasonal jobs -- doesn't sound like that's what you're interested in. Most other work visas require a university degree and an emplopyer willing to file for one -- they are rare in the hotel business, except for executive level managers.
