Ok, now I'm really confused.

I read somewhere that the Medical Exam must happen either the same day or within the week leading up to my Visa Interview in Montreal. Ok, I get that; they want to make sure your information is as up-to-date as possible.

However, in order to MAKE said appointment that is close to the interview date, one must know when the interview date will BE, no?

Yet my package says that I must compile my documents and check them off as I OBTAIN them, including my medical exam, and then send the completed checklist to the Consulate, and THEN they will send me my interview date. HUH?

How can I make an appointment for I date I don't know, so that I may check that off my list and then send in my list in order to GET said date?

Also, do I have to have all of the documents in my hot little hand before I check things off my checklist, or can I just arrange for them? (I.E. My passport will be arriving the 1st week of Feb (they tell me it's taking longer because of the crunch), and I just ordered my long birth certificate online today, which takes about 15 days to get here. Can I cross these off my list?

Also, I thought a police record check is only valid for something like 6 days, so do I have to get one now in order to check that box, and then get another 6 days before my visa interview?

Help please! :help:

First off, you can check everything on the list and send it back to the embassy because the time you're going to have between the moment you send it and the interview date is going to be enough to gather all these documents (2-4 months). All the embassy want is to make sure you have all your documents before they schedule your interview so that you dont miss anything on that day. But you have way more time than needed believe me.

As for the medical exam, the closest you do it to the interview, the longer its gonna last as when you file for your AOS once you are in the state youre gonna need a vaccination record that has been done in the last year. But if your medical is 1-2 months before your Interview its ok. Ive done mine on December 4 and I dont have my interview date yet. By the time I get the interview ( lets say Feb-March) and I enter the states, get married, and file the AOS its going to be no longer than 6 months after my medical, so everything is alright.

The police certificate is valid for a year.

So relax, dont stress too much, send the packet 3 now to be in queue to have your interview because you have to wait at least 2-4 months, so the sooner you send it, the better. And then start gathering all this stuff.

any other advice people?

So when should I try to schedule the appointment? Within the next two months to be safe?

(And good to know about the police check lasting a year; one more thing I can check off my list.)

I scheduled mine as soon as I received packet 3. Could have done it a week later but waited 2 weeks for a paycheck.

Now some places require you to have the letter with the interview date (packet 4) to receive your results. My place only required the letter from packet with the File number. Anyways you should have approximately a month when you receive packet 4 before your interview date.

Some medicals will also require one to two weeks to process the results. I had to go back 2 weeks after my medical to pick up the results. Get it done at your convenience; you will just want to be able to file for your Adjustment of Status after you are married within the year anniversary of your medical date so you don't need a new medical. Do make sure you get a photocopy of the vaccination worksheet - you will need that for the AOS as well. Be sure to bring your passport (I had to anyway) and the letter requesting you to get a medical with you to your appointment - it will have the file numbers they require as proof that you need one. They should tell you what you need to bring when you phone to make your appointment. If your passport isn't arriving until after February 1, then make your appointment for after that. There is not a long waiting time to get your medical appointment so don't worry about that.

As Galateia mentioned send back your list once you have arranged for your medical because it sounds like you have arranged for everything else. By the time they give you your interview date you will undoubtedly have everything in hand.

Good luck:-) - and make copies of everything! (except the medical results which are in a sealed envelope -don't open the envelope - it goes to the interview still sealed).

I had the same question when I got my checklist. Take Mephys' advice and just check everything off and send it back. I originally 'guesstimated' an appt. and booked the medical and then had to reschedule it. Honestly, I could have simply waited until I got the appointment letter (packet 4).

Hi Everyone I can't seem to grasp something here regarding the medical. My case is now at the Consulate in Montreal since Jan 3.

Will they informing me in Packet 3 when to set up a medical appt and I just make the appt at that time or do they tell me in packet 4 to get the medical set up

Sorry but I'm a bit confused on how this all plays out and would like to be prepared ahead of notification

I know Monique above says appointment letter packet 4 Mephys scheduled upon getting packet 3 Could I get my medical after getting packet 3 or do I need to wait for packet 4 to make the appointment

I know you've been there already any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Allie

The medical comes in between Package 3 & 4. Package 3 gives you Dr.'s names and addresses, and tells you to go schedule the appointment. With MOntreal you have LOADS of time to schedule that appointment and get the results back in time - No worries. I had my Package 3 in late October, Medical Mid November, and my Interview Date is Mid-January.

I know the Medical results are good for 1 year. I asked Montreal. I will be getting mine done for the I 129F now that I have a receipt. (Our CR1 is going nowhere right now.) If my results expire before it comes time for the AOS, I will get another Medical done in the US.

From what I know and I did confirm with the Consulate and Doctors office- as long as you have anything from USCIS with a number on it, you can get the Medical done.
