Guys, its FREE immigration advice from some super knowledgeable folks. Sometimes those folks see patterns and point them out. They're right to do so as so many posts on a daily basis are veiled attempts to circumvent the law, complete emotional exaggeration, or questions lacking any substance for a real directional response. If the OP and others in this thread would spend years on here answering the same questions over and over (many of which are ridiculous attempts to expedite a visa due to "emotional hardship") for free, they might be a little suspicious as well.

Stop complaining that people are not giving you free advice in a nice enough tone or that there are not enough volunteer moderators combing the site to make it "less offensive" to your delicate sensibilities.

Some people don't understand this board is a source of information for everyone, not just them. They ask a question and want a one word answer not an explanation. The explanation is what makes this board useful to other people who may have a similar question.

They want to argue and hold the person who answered accountable for things they never meant. My answer to a question asked by the OP of this thread is a perfect example. Her question was unclear so I provided an answer I felt was appropriate and then was accused of being on my high horse and accusing her of things I never had. She then proceeded to argue with several other people. She never clarified what information she was seeking but became angry because the answers didn't directly address her unclear question.

Other times people ask a question and more information is needed but they refuse to provide it. This makes it very difficult to provide an accurate or correct answer but when the needed information is requested they are told it is none of their business. Well, if you want an accurate answer I need accurate information.

Some times people spam the board. I recall one person who posted the same question in at least 20 threads in a matter of one hour. This begs for a response.

Some times people ask questions that could have been answered if they had read the instructions.

This. My particular favourites, are the ones who come and ask for advice, having already decided what they want to do. Then they are angry and all bent out of shape when they are advised that want they are attempting is not possible. Sometimes bordering hard up against fraud. Someone providing consise and right on the money advice magically morphs into a person perceived as being 'mean' to an OP, or bashing them. Heaven forbid, offending some delicate little blossom.

I've often thought that what this forum needs are a couple of additions. A good eyerolling emoticon, and another little button down next to where it says report, that reads Whining.

As was stated in the other thread, random moderation is to be expected here. Yes, a moderator posted earlier to what you thought was sarcastic. bullying, etc. and maybe that person shouldn't have. However, keep in mind - what you see as belittling, others see as simple good natured fun. There really isn't a way for the mod to know that you're offended unless you report it.

I would also like everyone to notice how polite I'm being. I am at this time publicly stating my intent to take the title of "nicest person on VJ" from GandD. Good luck and may the nicest person win.

And I'm going to win because Christians are the nicest people in the world.

Well according to the previous forum, you already had reviewed such comments as I saw you post there, certain mods I have noticed are aware of the situation and the humiliating remarks and they let it continue. What exactly is "reporting" going to solve when you slap them on the wrist with erasing the content and then giving a warning or a few days off from the forums? No that is not proper moderation, they come back and turn members right away from this site yet again. So it's an on-going problem that I have seen. If the only repercussion is a simple slap on the wrist, then what is the purpose when they will just return doing the same things? Obviously this is a problem since you see members complaining about it. If that's how you want to advertise your site, then that is a problem itself.

Errata:

1. if you cannot see the report button on any post, come back on a PC, try it again.

2. TOS is usually enforced when/if/right after the report button is clicked.

3. If you aren't using the report button, I invite you to change your habits, a bit.

I always look at vj as being part of a dysfunctional family...you make the choice of who you pay attention to and who you dont just like in any other dysfunctional family...some days you can tolerate the ones you couldn't the day before...but you should never discount even the ones that really tick you off because nine times out of ten they have the right answer for any question you have about immigration...........thru the years i have seen a lot of people come and go here......the ones that get offended easily i often wonder how they deal with the service centers or nvc.....or the multitude of problems that come with your spouse or fiance immigrating to a world they have never been to but watched loads of movies and have a idea in their head that they feel is right about what life is like in the USA..........its all a learning experience and lets face it some of the best teachers even in school were the ones that you hated the most
