I-485 AOS Part 3 Q#2 Yes or No for receiving WIC?

in the form I-485 AOS Part 3 C) #2 Have you received public assistance in the United States from any source, US government, or any State, county, city, or are you likely to receive public assistance in the future? *I DID RECEIVE WIC when my son was a toddler now he is 10 yrs old, I do not remember the exact dates but I could come up with an estimate period of time, do I need to write a separate letter explaining this situations? how critical is this information? This is the only question of this part that the answer is YES.

Please advise what is the way to go in this question. The Immigration Attorney at www.justask.com adivised to answer NO, but again he advised to not report my job history including the current one and I am not sure he is giving me the right advise.

According to USCIS receiving WIC is not considered "Public Charge" : Quoting from this link

Whoever you are asking online is giving you HORRIBLE DANGEROUS advice. You cannot lie and expect to get away with it. Any lie, once discovered, will make you permanently banned from the US with NO WAIVER.

USCIS can and will easily run your name and SSN and see that you worked and see that you got WIC. You think they won't know everything about you by the time you are done?

Do you think any immigration attorney who has time to sit around and answer questions on ask.com has a booming business with lots of clients and experience?

so maybe this website is only milking $ out of people without caring to be professionals?!! I just signed up and I am on a week free trial and I think I should cancell before they start charging me the montly fee.

I had even mentioned in my questions that I understand I need to answer with the truth and that is my soley intention, his responses are " in my 12+ years of experience in immigration I advise the same to my clients and never had a problem"

Now my husband and I had paid $250 and $300 to two different Immigration Attorneys as a first consultation to start the process and after explaining my situation -without going into details like this when they arise at the time to fill up the forms- BOTH! a agreed that my case is so simple ant we should be good filling ourselves, or hiring them. That was from two different attorneys and we def appreciate their professionalism to talk to us with the truth. So we opted to save $3,000 and file on our own and here we are facing different questions on some of the forms and of course we don't want to screw up.

There are no secret gotchas. You fill out the forms and you answer the questions honestly. You follow the instructions and give them all the evidence they ask for.

They will do background checks on you and know almost everything about you.

If you did something that will make you inadmissible, then it will come out. You can't hide it.

So far, from your threads, I haven't seen anything that makes you inadmissible.

I will answer YES and I will write a letter giving information about it. I will contact the agency who proved the benefit back then and will comply. I want to do things the right way, I have nothing to hide and like everyone here I do not want to make mistakes. This is why I am here asking questions. If you received ANY public assistance, you need to say so. ALWAYS be honest!

The question isn't asking if you received assistance that is considered a public charge, it is just asking if you have received any assistance. They will already know whether the assistance you received is acceptable or not (meaning whether or not its considered a public charge).

The question is have you ever OR are you likely to. They are not separate questions. Answering Yes and adding the explanation of what she received will cover it. Answering Yes because the first part of the question pertains to her does not mean she is answering Yes to the second OR part.

This is why I have to write a letter specifying why I am answering YES to that questions giving detailed information about the time I received WIC for my USC son. I will clarify that I do not intend to receive assistance in the future.

Absolutely no. My son is USC and the benefit was for him. Never to anyone I've ever claimed to be USC
