Hello!

NVC closed our case on April 7 but didn't receive the email until April 13. Then by April 16, we received another email regarding the interview schedule. I was surprised to find out that their interview is in 2 weeks! May 5th!

So after the interview, and let's say they pass, how long is it usually before they receive their visa? My children live in Malate Manila

No one knows. Can't say because every case is different. Average with NO problems, maybe 5-8 business days. But even that is a guess. We have seen the average and some waiting 1 - 2 months later. So, Don't buy any plane tickets until the visa is in hand!!

It all depends in the outcome of thier interview, my daughter pass her interview and the consul congratulate her, but she was asked to submit some papers, in which the nvc told her and e mailed her to hand it over to the interviewer, and no need to send it to them. When she was there with the consul, shes trying to give the paper to her, but the consul says no, just mailed it instead to usembassy using 2go courier. And we waited 2 weeks after they deliver the visa.

What a bummer! So on the interview letter, NVC noted that they've received all docs we were required to provide, however, it also says check with Embassy/Consulate for they might ask for additional documents. Does that really happen? Do COs really ask for documents eventhough all that's needed have been received by NVC which they've forwarded to USEM confirming that everything is there? We're getting docs ready anyway just in case they do ask for additional stuff.

Wilzhen, do you mind telling me the document they requested from you? Is it something you've already submitted to NVC prior?

You need to follow the IV instructions letter, what you sent to NVC has nothing to do with the interview process, two different events.

Some documents may not be required because of age of the child.

Are you saying that the docs sent to NVC that helped them build/close a case is irrelevant to the interview? What do the COs go by then to help them decide on whether to grant someone a visa or not? All I'm asking is if COs do ask for documents (originals and/or copies) even if those said docs were already forwarded to them by NVC as stated on the 4th page of the interview letter, you know where they list all the required docs on the left and then the codes (letters) on the right, where it says if a document was sent to them, or a document that applicants have to obtain and bring to the interview and documents that arent applicable to the case.

Oh they review your file from NVC (and the petition from USCIS) but those are different processes, but the embassy does have a list of their required documents that you need to address for the interview, and they are listed in their instructions letter.

So far you have petitioned USCIS to be allowed to apply for a visa and were approved for that, then your file went to NVC where you completed the required immigration paperwork - this process approves permanent residence and the issuance of a green card (and I believe paperwork for the SS card as well).

Now you need to get approved for the actual visa to be allowed to enter the USA, don't get approved for the visa all the other paperwork is for naught.

So what I am saying is read the embassy instructions letter and follow it.

Oh yeah that's a definite I have read the US Embassy's instruction for interview process multiple times already. I'm just worried that I might miss something. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Thanks for all your input Hank, really 'ppreciate it!

Yes it does happen. Not to me but from other people I met here in VJ. With this process, I always bring more than less. So just to be safe, bring as much original documents you could get.
