tragedies such as these bring us all closer together, as a message board - as a nation. rest in peace o.d.b., shimmy shimmy yah, etc..

My God, you rock.

Oh, I am sorry to hear that, Novembro. :(

But agreed, I also wonder if he never heard of the Lorena Bobbitt thing.

I guess maybe some attempted suicides are just calls for attention and not serious attempts.

Apparently his marketing group's efforts were abysmal - this should help a lot with album sales.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

How don't people know that jumping out of a second story window/balcony won't kill you?

When I was 6 we did fire safety, and my parents told me if, worst case scenario, all of our fire safety stuff didn't work and I was trapped somewhere, that I could jump out the window and live.

I distinctly remember my father telling me, "You'll probably break your leg but you won't die."

Is that not a common conversation?

I thought is was a common conversation for anyone with kids.

When I renovated our home, I built a cavity in the wall beneath a window in each room - the sill opens inward to access a rope ladder. When the kids were younger we ran a few mock fire drills - it was fun for all. It helps allay their fears when they know what to do in a variety of circumsances.
