We are stuck in a confusion. The Social Security Office delayed us in processing the SSN within the valid I-94 time frame. Now for the upcoming AOS interview,we tried to open a joint bank account and get a DL.We were denied at both the places since I-94 had been expired. We are anxious,if these denials effect the interview or AOS.?

No, the case status for EAD and AP shows under initial review.Did the bio metrics on March 11.AOS interview is on May 21.Contacted the congressmen, who informed us after tracking the case, that EAD processing time is 90 days.So we have to wait till then. What proof of evidence can we take with us?.As mentioned before,we don,t have any joint assets, health insurance etc, neither any marriage ceremony here.We are well known in the community here now ,and my daughter is going to school with my husband as her guardian. With kids and new life here,we got too busy to collect the evidences, photographs etc in past 4 months, but the process is making me anxious, when I see so many threads mentioning the evidences which we don't have any.Any advice is appreciated.

You may get it before the interview. If not, then take what you have. Proof of same residence, proof of being the guardian and emergency contact at the child's school, affidavits from people in the community that are witness to your marriage, etc. No wedding photos at all? Any photos taken together and with friends and family since you married? They tend to understand the marriage is new and you won't have lots of evidence yet. If you do not get the EAD and SSN in time, then just explain that, and why you lack some things.

Additionally, you probably have the birth certificate of your child with both of your names on it. Utilities usually do not ask for SS#, You could put your name on all the utility bills.

Thanks for the advice Jay-Kay and bkghosh. The birth certificate of my daughter has my ex-husband's name. She is here on K2 and we are doing AOS for her as well. Both me and my husband have been married before. Both of us with busy lives, were going through each step as it was coming by.To me AOS process seems like going through same steps as during K1 visa process. Each day I realize I am short of some thing.......We had submitted original translation of my divorce decree with affidavit of translation, during filing the petition and visa interview. Now as mentioned in the interview letter, they need the translated copy with affidavit of translation again. We have a photocopy of the translated decree and a copy of affidavit, but confused if it would work,or I have to get an original mailed from India.Don't they have the original copies in their file? Also, the letter also mentions regarding the birth certificate of the petitioner...i.e my husband.Nowhere was this required before, and my husband doesn't have it either.either. Isn't his U.S passport good enough for them?He didn't had it earlier too when he applied for his green card 14 years back.He submitted affidavit from his mother at that time. What is best to do in this situation? Is there a possibility of denial also?

Worst case scenario, they ask you questions about your life and you answer. That's all. There is no evidence that is required, strictly speaking.

Just be honest, and look them in the eye...If you have nothing to hide and you're genuine, it will work out. They didn't ask me for my DL, or my SSN. He barely even asked us 10 questions. I gave him 6 pictures of us, and we were approved within 20 minutes.

Occasionally an AOS interview can take place prior to you receiving your EAD and SSN, It just depends how fast your local office works. I only received my EAD and SSN a few days prior to my AOS interview.

The IO's are understanding to the fact that not a lot can be done without a SSN so don't stress to much about it :) .

I'm married for over two years now, but we have lived mostly of this time in Brazil, since my husband got his permanent residency there a lot faster and easier. Now we are living here in the states and we also don't have absolutely nothing showing our both names on it (his bank - BB&T, didn't let he add my name on his bank account; also, we live on his mom's, so we don't have leasing). It makes me worry too, since my AOS interview is upcoming. In those case, like mine and the OP, emails sent to each other, pictures, phone calls, texts messages, itineraries of trips to each other countries, etc, would suffice (I have sent all those things with the I-130, along with 7 affidavits of bona marriage from friends)?

Take some pictures now that you can show at the interview. As suggested above, get utilities in both of your names, mail with both names, affidavits from friends and family. Do you have wedding pictures you can show as well? I think I read somewhere that there are some banks that will allow you to open an account without a ssn---not sure where, but do some research. Not sure, but will the DMV issue an ID card without a social security number? That would be proof of same address. If you are renting, make sure both names are on the contract. We had our AOS interview shortly after marriage as well, and we passed fine. The IOs know that you don't have a lot of evidence after such a short amount of time being married. Just explain your situation about not getting the ssn in time and so having trouble making joint accounts. In the meantime, maybe you will get your EAD faster and be able to open the accounts. Good luck!
