Going back to Philippines in June for 2 weeks

I have been looking for tickets but it seems to be expensive for the month of June. It's pretty much a rainy season in the Philippines I don't understand why it would cost $1700 and up each Roundtrip. I flew back last year and we only paid $1100 that was summer in Phil..

Any advice when should I purchase a ticket? Websites etc?

June is a heavy travel season, you're likely to see higher fares.

Check this site a few times a week, airlines change prices frequently to fill planes. Also, check different arrival and departure dates, I've been able to find good deals doing that.

search google travel, put in the dates and it gives you prices for every airline. you always get the best deal booking online directly with the airline. Summer is the most expensive and trying to book so close to the travel date you will pay premium price. It's always best to book well in advance. For example, I am traveling to Jordan in a month with my husband and children. I booked the flights for my husband, one of my children and myself back in January, it was $780 round trip each ticket. In February my other child(he is in college) decided he wanted to go with us, I booked his flight 3 weeks later than I booked the first 3 tickets and the cost of his flight was $1320, almost double.

Ticket prices have been going up and down with no rhyme or reason. Just have to do your homework and catch a lucky break. I use ITA Matrix (https://www.itasoftware.com/) a Google Company. Google Travel is another good place to search

BTW, this topic is talked about quite frequently and if you do a search you'll find lots of answers. Here is the last thread this was discussed on this subject about a week ago.

I use ITA as a first-line search tool.

Always check other search engines as well. No tool covers every airline, especially if you're looking for regional airlines that may offer substantially lower cost fares.

Major airlines publish sales on Tuesdays/Wednesdays, so those seem to be the better days to book.

Two months out from your travel dates seems to be the general sweet spot. Too far out sometimes results in higher fares because the airlines are not in a position yet to provide incentives to spur ticket sales. If you travel somewhere on a regular basis, even once a year over several years, it's a good idea to check regularly so that you get a good idea of pricing and timing for your desired route.

Good advice from others. To summarize my tactics:

1. Check a couple of travel sites (travelocity, ITA, etc)

2. Check couple of times a day for a week or two. You can usually find specials come up as discussed above.

3. Once you find a good deal, then go to the airline site (United, Delta, Korea Air, etc) and check prices on the same flight. Most times the prices are the same or a few dollars less. I would rather book direct with the airlines i am flying with in case there are delays, schedule changes, etc that do happen. Then you are not having to go through a middle man on making things right.

Try every one of them. Yes it is a lot of work but if you want the lowest fare, this is how to do it. The low fare winner is different every day, so you can't find the winner without trying every one.

Also try different days of the week as well as different times of day.

Last year when I went there, Emirates AIr was the winner at $1500. Delta wanted $2000. And I used Expedia. But I did try every one as is my usual practice and did business with the lowest bidder, both in airline and in website.

Best time to travel to the RP is January and February. I've found round trip tickets from the West Coast of around $1,200 to $1,400.

If you are really set on June, expect to pay more. But try leaving and returning on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. You'll save a bit doing that.

Go to the website http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ and enter your flight information. You can make different projections and see a calendar of the lowest ticket prices which may not necessary be on the same day as what you prefer but if you are flexible you can save some money.

Check every day and sometimes multiple times till you see what you like. There are isn't a magic process. What works for one will not work for another.

Based on what you see for rates you have to be a realist with pricing and then when you see what you are willing to pay then buy your ticket. That's what I do and I don't look again as I guarantee you that some lower price will pop up. Murphy's Law!!! lol
