My fiance and I have our interview on Jan 31st and I'm flying down the 27th (I'm SOOO excited since I haven't seen him since Sept 3rd!). His medical exam is Jan 17th with Oscar Situ - did anyone have their medical exam with him? I know my fiance will have to get some vaccines and just wondering if any of you (or your fiance's) had to get vaccines with your medical exams and maybe an idea of how much they costed? Just trying to budget here....

Any tips for the interview would be great - I've already gotten a lot but you can never be too prepared...

Also - what did you all wear to the interview?

My wife had 3 vaccinations and maybe spent $40.00 if that.

Smart casual is what we went with to the interview...

The interview itself......

There is a slight possibility they may interview you seperately as they did with us. But if you know each other very well, there should be no problems. So don't be surprised if this happens, it's nothing bad.

Have everything in order to present to them when asked. We used a pendaflex file, labled with each item they would ask for.... DS156, Birth Cerftificate, Bank Letter etc. It helped alot.

When you get into the waiting room, try to sit in the back rows as you can lean again the wall, otherwise the other seats are just benches and when waiting for a while, it gets uncomfortable.

When you first arrive at the embassy, show the guard at the front your interview letter and passports and he will let you in.

You may see a long line outside, don't wait in that line. Go right up to the guard.

No cell phones allowed and they did take my wifes perfume bottle away until we left and they returned that along with her cell phone.

Hope this helps some..... Best of luck to both of you and any more questions just ask......

My husband went to Oscar Situ for his exam and vaccinations. The exam was $95, and I know the vaccinations were extra (just not sure of the exact amount). We went to the interview together and wore casual dress clothes. You'll be sitting and waiting for a while, so be comfortable.

I had my medical exam with Oscar Situ almost 2 years ago, very nice doctor, I brought my card with all the vaccinations I had and they didn't charge me $$, but I saw people paying alot of money ( A lady paid about $250), tell your fiance to be prepared and bring some extra money.

For the interview I'll recommend to wear professional clothes I mention this 'cause when I went for my interview I saw a couple (the guy) wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt, didn't look good at all. As MandyR says sit in the back, we made the mistake to sit in the middle and I remember that our backs were killing us. Bring all the documents in order, they will tell you that at the entrance. Bring extra $$$ in case you have to pay for fingerprints.

How much are fingerprints if you have to pay? I thought they were included in the interview cost?

We had to get my husband's fingerprints taken the day of our interview and it was $85. He had a name hit in the system with his own twin brother, and they had to verify that he was who he claimed to be and not his twin.

Hopefully, your interview will be much more smooth.

Good luck on your interview. It would be great if you could share your experience there. My fiancee and I recently submitted our 129f and are in the hurry up and wait point right now. I very much appreciate everyone's willingness to help each other and only feel like I haven't contributed much, but I am willing to share my experiences once I pass that path. One quick question, did you have a choice with picking out who would conduct the medical screening? I went to the embassy info portion of this webpage and it shows 3 available.

Again I wish you the best on the 31st!

Best regards,

Eff

Yes - they give you a sheet with the doctors names/address (the same that is on this website) and you call any one of them and schedule an apointment - but you have to wait until you receive your packet from the embassy because you have to bring the official letter and a medical form from the packet that they send you.

I will definately give a detailed a description of the interview and rest of our process - I know it can be very helpful especially since reading other people's experiances have been helpful to me.

Naty,

I went with Oscar Situ too. I have payed US$95.00 for the medical Exam. PLUS S/. 250.00 ( SOLES ) for the vaccinations.

Don't worry about it. He will just ask him questions about what diseases he had in the past. He will touch his stomach and his throath and thats about all. NOTHING TO WORRY.

Good luck at the interview !!!

Hey Guys! I'm leaving for Peru in 3 days!!

I heard a rumor that the I-134 has to be printed as one page - front and back. Is this true? Did you guys bring just the 2 pages printed out or 1 page front and back?

Any last minute advice?

Is it cold inside the embassy? Should I bring a sweater?

Say a prayer for us! Interview is in exactly 1 week!

Good luck Naty. Betty and I will be thinking about you guys. Don't forget to let us know how it goes. The only advice that I can offer is to not pack any important documentation in your checked luggage. I often have trouble with my luggage in Lima.

OK, I do have one other piece of advice: Remember to take a deep breath and relax. It seems like everyone who has a genuine relationship and a prepared case gets through this OK. You guys will be fine.

Once again, best of luck.
