Insha'Allah I'll be heading out end of February but we still don't know yet.

Perhaps someone is going sooner than that.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

It took that long to get the certificate (a little over a week) and then for translation(the rest of the wating time). Sam took to a certified translator so there would be no question about the translation authenticity and I don't know if that had anything to do with the time it took. As soon as he got them he overnighted all to me to send in.

Also he had to retake his picture to go with the documents we sent in as it had the wrong background color. So we just waited until I was there to get the pictures made and then I brought them back with me from my trip in May.

WOW!!!

Thanks! I'll ask him to see how long the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take. Hopefully a wee bit shorter than over a month....but with Cairo most likely it'll be a few months unless he knows someone or can bribe the people there.

Thanks again!

Doodle...they did our translations same day (when we picked up the cert) but the lady who signed the translation (to make it official) wasn't there. Mohamed had to go back to Cairo the next day to pick them up. I was leaving that day so he had to take me back to Alex to catch my flight. He didn't send it to me for about 1.5 months though. If I were better educated on the process before hand I wouldn't have had the hold ups.

Translations done for foreigners marrying Egyptians are not done at the ministry (even though the paper said so). They can tell Usama where to go though. I don't remember what the building is called but it's big, old and run down.
