married and filed I-130 and I-485 together

Hi everyone,

I'm completely confused and the USCIS helpline can't explain anything to me.

I came across to the US from Uk on VWP and got married (I know all the rules and I promise I'm one of the valid cases!) We filed the joint I-130 and I-485 in August. I had fingerprints done shortly after and went for my interview in Oklahoma City around November 14. At my interview the man was great and told us he was approving me and I should get my temp greencard in the mail in a few days. Afew days later I receive two letters on the same day...1.A form to tell me my I-130 has been approved and 2.A form requesting extra evidence (A long copy of my birth certificate) before the can approve my I-485.

I've sent them the birth certificate (again!) and heard nothing back yet. When I check my case status the last thing they have is from back in August when they say they received my medical. It hasn't updated the biometrics, interview or RFE request.

Also am I supposed to do something with the I-130 approval letter?

I'm sitting around waiting to here from them but I'm worried I'm supposed to be doing something!

Sounds like that letter crossed in the mail with your approval? I don't know, but that sounds confusing. I thought the interview was the final step in approval of the I-485. Have you got your EAD yet? or did you apply for that at the same time?

On that note, is there any way to apply for EAD along with I-130 and then save up the cash to do the I-485 soon after? Just wondering....it seems the instructions indicate otherwise, but it would be helpful to get the work permit EAD as soon as possible.

This sounds dumb, but are you sure the b/c you sent was the long form one? I have two b/c - one that everyone gets and one (the long form) (this one is the actually record of live birth that my mother filled out to send in to record my birth) that I had to obtain specifically for immigration.
