I always used a card called Payless...1 cent a min to the UK, 75c connection fee. This is the rate to landlines only.

I stopped using cards ages ago...well, for a long while, I was living there, so no need for one, lol. Then he got a plan to call here 20quid unlimited. So I just usually make his phone ring, and then he calls me back. Somehow, even the 'minute here minute there' calls usually wind up to 40-50 a month for me!

So I started using cards again....for some reason, I can't find the Payless one anymore. So I bought this other one called 'Africa'....8 hours + for 5 bucks, no connection fee! What they didn't say is there;s a DISCONNECTION fee. and some other fee....so i made maybe 3 calls...two under 20 mins, one about 2.5 hours...so all in all it's still a bargain.

I use Pingo.com. It's easy to understand and to keep records of calls and price. You can recharge easily from the internet.

I switched to Vonage for my home phone for reasons other than long distance rates, and it turns out that their rates are very competative with some of the cards. I use their cheapest plan ($15/mo) and calls to Serbia are only about 10 cents/minute. That was the best I could do with a calling card. I guess it depends on the country, but if Vonage is an option for you, check their rates.

I was going to suggest this too, as I pay 6 cents a min to peru using Vonage, beats the 20 cent a min i was paying on calling cards(the best i could find)

12/31/07: Sent I-751 packet to Texas, the LONG wait begins once again!

01/03/08: Packed received.
