Just want to make sure I understand the process

So when my work permit comes through I need to get myself down to SS office and get my SS card name changed and make it so the office know I have permission to work? Then with my new SS card, passport and marriage licence I would be able to go to DMV and get a learners permit in my new married name? Out of curiosity once I have a learners permit can I still use my UK license for those 10 days ? or does the learners permit cancel out me using my uk license? I ask because I read tht u can use home country license for up to 10 days after becoming resident. Will my employer be able to accept passport (in maiden name), marriage license and work permit alone in order to employ me? or will I need to wait until I have the ID in married name available?

Driver's licenses are issued by the state, so contact the DMV of your state to see the requirements.

also will I have to wait until I have my SS in married name in hand before they hire me or will SS number be enough considering id already requested the change and was just waiting for the card to be mailed?

I personally wasn't even asked to show my ssn card to the employer. I just had to write it down when signing documents to start my job. The number stays the same after change of name so you should be good.

You don't need to change the name on the SSN to work. It's still you and the number is the same. Study a form called I-9 to know what you need to show you are able to work. Every employer will have you fill it out when you are hired. Good luck.
