I am confused regarding address and employment fields in n-400 form:

Following is my situation:

I came to US in Sept 2011, PoE Atlanta, GA.

***********************************************************************

From Sept 2011 to Dec 2011 -- Lived in Atlanta, GA with my uncle -- Was Unemployed

From December 2011 to April 2012 -- Lived in Atlanta, GA -- Worked remotely from home for a client in New Jersey -- Through Consultancy in Tennessee (W2 has Atlanta,GA address)

From May 2012 to August 2012 -- Lived in Atlanta, GA -- Unemployed

From Sept 2012 to March 2013 -- Lived in Atlanta, GA -- Worked remotely from home and occasionally working onsite for a client in Virginia -- Through Consultancy in Maryland (W2 has Virginia address - I also occasionally lived at my friends place in Virginia when I had be physically present at client's site)

This position became permanent from contract.

From April 2013 till present -- Lived in Virginia -- Working for the same client in Virginia as an employee (No confusion on this part)

*********************************************************************

I am confused what I should enter in Employment fields (for period Dec 2011 to Apr 2012 and from Sept 2012 to Mar 2013). For Employer, Should I enter Consultancy name and address or Client name and address (because Consultancy and Client are in different states).

Please help me to answer this. My n-400 application will be marriage-based.

I would say for the periods of time you were a consultant working from home, put home address. You can put in the form: consultant - working from home, or something to that effect. That should be pretty clear.

You'll probably get a chance to clarify all that at the interview, as I've heard they go through your n-400 form then

I would personally write the consultant, not the client name. But to be honest, your post is a little confusing. Fill it out how it makes sense to you and then explain it during your N400 interview, which you will be given a chance to do so

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

To make my situation clear:

From Dec 2011 to April 2012 - From home (Atlanta, GA) I worked remotely for a "client in New Jersey" through a consultancy in Tennessee. My W2 has Atlanta, GA address and Tennesse Consultancy name as an Employer

From Sept 2012 to Mar 2013 - Worked mostly from home (Atlanta, GA) and sometimes at Clients Site for a "client in Virginia" through a consutancy in Maryland. My W2 has Atlanta, GA address and Maryland Consultancy name as an Employer.

So what should I fill for Employer name and address - Consultancy or Client - because both are in different states and I was working from a different state.

I am also an consultant and this section was kinda tricky..

There are two ways to answer this.

Use your W-2 to find out the info of the employer.

Alternatively if W-2 is not available then use your wage transcript.

it will list your employer info name, address and year.

Cheers!!
