Any US citizen may accompany; you must have your passport. As for getting there early, I heard of some people being turned away and told to "come back later" (but this is just hear-say). My interview is in Montreal on May 20th at 8am and my American fiance will be there.

Once you get in the front door, past security, and then up the elevator; it's first come first served. You stand in line after getting off the elevator to get a number. I think my appt. was for 9.30 or 10:00 and got there at 7:30 am (there were others there before me, but they weren't VJ members and lined up on the wrong side of the door and were expecting to get out the wrong side of the elevator.) Guess it's a toss up whether you want to wait for the outside doors to open, and then wait for the elevator to open vs.arriving later and waiting in the waiting room.

I recall hearing about other fiances going to the interview. i went by myself. Double check the Mtl consulate website.

Check out the reviews of the consulate for the full details on where to stand, etc.

Congrats on getting your interview scheduled!

Get there early. First come first serve! Had other VJ members there with me. Started lining up about 630ish?

My fiance's interview was March 28th. We arrived at 7 AM, and we were the first ones there. They were fine with me accompanying him, and it turned out to be better because we were dumb and forgot the letter of intent!

It was lightly snowing on our interview day, so I doubt people wanted to be outside for long, but we were fine.

There was a couple behind us that was able to snag an early number (A2 or A3, I believe) by getting on the elevator quickly, despite being further back in line.

Show up at O'dark thirty to get a good spot in line. Worst case scenario you have to come back at your scheduled time. Best case scenario you're out the door by 9am.

secondly, am I allowed to accompny my wife inside the building?

Yes, bring a passport. You'll basically just sit in a chair. Can't bring a phone or anything to keep yourself busy, so enjoy staring at the informative posters the consulate has.

As the fiance, I went to all the windows with him. You still get to be a part of everything, even if they're focusing on the Canadian citizen.

I know most ppl go early and wait in line for the doors to open, but I did not. I had my interview at 10am as well, I arrived at 9:40am, there was no line, went straight up to get my number, etc, and was out the door by 10:50am, so total time from walking in the door (downstairs, before security) was one hour. Good luck!!

That's pretty rare. You're lucky.
