why 5 househols is 3

Assets are calculated at times 5 the shortfall in income. They are not speaking of the household count. Household of 3 needs $24,737. The joint sponsor is short $3617 in income. Therefore they would need 5 times $3617, so a bare minimum of $18,805 in assets would be needed.

As I have told you before. There can be 2 joint sponsors used when there is more than 1 intending immigrant. One joint sponsor can sponsor one of the immigrants and the other joint sponsor can sponsor the other one. Read the I-864 instructions about doing that, if you should want to.

I'm sorry. I know you are having hard time with it. I mention the 2 joint sponsors because neither of the choices you have been wanting to use meet the requirement, so perhaps they could each meet the requirement if they only sponsored one of the 2 intending immigrants each.
