~ Jan ??,2013 ~ Service Center ~ Vermont I-129F Packet sent

NOTE: Actual sent date unknown due to lawyer negligence - I delivered ALLForms and PAID Lawyer on Nov 7, 2012 - Lawyer kept saying he sent the packet and USCIS must have lost it. When in reality he failed to send the package and only a new copy to USCIS after I made a legal written demand giving him 10 days to perform or return ALL monies paid to him, due to "non-performance".

(IMO it's better to save your money for visits to or from your Fiancé and just fill it out yourself using the K-1 Guide on VJ and Senior Members... They Rock!!!)

I got my daughters CRBA at the embassy in Trinidad. She ended up being born before my wife got her visa. The process is very similar at all embassies. You can submit an application for the US passport for the child at the same time you apply for CRBA.

Once you get all the docs the application process is split up in two parts. Trinidad required that both parents be present for the application.

The first part involves the review of the documents to establish eligibility of the child for US citizenship. This took about 5-10 minutes and then told us it was approved. The consular officer told me that the my docs ( I’m the USC) were in order and I was well prepared and that is went so quickly.

Once it is approved then they do the second part which is processing the passport application. That took about 10 mins.

Then they will notify you when it is ready for pickup. In our case they gave us an expected pickup date of 3-6 weeks however 8 days later they sent us an email saying my daughters CRBA and Passport was ready for pickup at the embassy.

For my residency requirements I took in a copy of my Social Security statement which you can get online at the social security website.I also took in a letter from my employer. I have been with the same employer in the US for over 10 years. And a copy of my US military service record. I also took several years tax returns but it looked like they didn’t need to look at it after seeing the first 3.

So in our case it took about 45 mins at the embassy and 8 days later my wife had our daughters CRBA and passport in hand

Yes I had to go in person since the Trinidad embassy required that both parents had to be there even though we were married.I had emailed the trinidad embassy and asked them the rquirements.I have read some embassies do not require the US citizen to be there but they have to send in notarized copies of all the citizenship paperwork and fill out forms.Remember the citizenship is being gained due to a parent. So naturally the form is tailored for the US citizen parent(s)You can try emailing Jamaicas embassy..Trinidads embassy had email contact on their US Citizen services page on their website. They were very quick in responding to me.I have emailed them several times and the the latest I ever got a reply back was by the following day.You can try and see if Jamaicas embassy is set up the same way.On the way back from the embassy my wife had asked me what is the process now for our daughter when she would be coming up to the states.I smiled and told her in a couple weeks she willl have a US passport...no visa required lol She then said she wished the process for her was as easy as our daughters.
