Because he scored so well when competing against other Black applicants.... but if he were competing against whites and Asians....the result would have been different.

I should ad that racial set-asides are not nearly as common as they used to be as federal cases have chipped away at their legality but seeking the same goal they use different words to reach the same end.

I don't know if you are aware of this but a lot of Blacks did own land, back in the day, most has been sold off as people have moved away from farms.

There were actually laws in VA for example which required a Slave owner to award a freed slave a certain amount of property, this is one reason why it was rather difficult (expensive) to free slaves upon the masters death. The intention of the law was to prevent shiftless free blacks from roaming around with no means but it no doubt prevented a lot of slaves from being freed due to the cost.

Reparations: I'll repeat myself, the Gov'ment did not enslave anyone so they have no obligation to make any reparations .... even if those wronged were alive to collect.

Even the Japanese which were rounded up by the Gov't only received reparations if they were alive to collect it, the debt was not inheritable.

One could make the case that Americans have spent a great fortune already trying to aid the Black population.

400,000 Blacks were shipped to the USA, 17 million when into the much more brutal Arab slave trade.... why is it we never hear any demand for reparations from the Arabs?

Or from other Black nations for that matter?

Stating the reality of college admissions is not *picking on blacks*....

it would seem so many people have come to avoid these conversations that we now have large numbers of people who do not understand the racial advantage that SOME TIMES exists.

Well I am all about talking about it because I think the silence on so many of these issues has been counter productive for everyone.
