To Marc:

Interestingly if you take a look back through your post history, you might see that almost every single post you have made in an O/T thread has been an insult, and in my “special” case (a threat).

As for this thread – the clear implication here is that many people who use this forum lack empathy and are faking it in their posts. And you wonder why some might consider this to be offensive – the suggestion that it has anything to do with political orientation is spurious at best.

If we’re really going to be honest here – you haven’t displayed much empathy or humility towards others when you have posted these things, threatened me and attempted to trash my profile. Nor have you displayed much of the maturity you are saying others lack.

If you really want I'll pull up some of your greatest hits so that we can see this maturity, and willingness to debate in action ;)

I don't know whether he is an alcoholic and don't really care if he is one. I do wish he'd resize his signature a bit, so that i could enjoy it a bit more.

No one has implied he is an alcoholic, not that I have seen anyway. *shrugs*

some have, i've seen it.

Well, fair dues then.

It was me - and if you'd seen the post that prompted, it wasn't me alone who thought it ;)

Actually, I thought people were referring to a post in this thread, not another. As that's not the case....I think I know which one you refer to. I guess if people want to make up their own minds they can read through individual people's posts. :)

Most of us who post here in OT have developed a reputation and others often poke fun of that. Marc has a reputation of posting incoherent and slanderous statements which come across like a beligerant drunk, particularly late at night, hence the jokes about his alcohol consumption. Some people can take the personal jabs too far ...I think most of us are guilty of that from time to time, but especially in Marc's case, when it comes to personal jabs, he's never shy to do so which brings it right back to him. If he doesn't like that characterization, then he should change the way he posts, especially at night.

I will only say that (agreeing with LisaD here) if you are offended by what he's saying, why give it attention? Why reply? Sometimes if you have nothing good to say, it's best not to say anything.

I guess some people believe that people who post things that are offensive should be put in their place. Additionally, I wish to add, sometimes Marc will post things in a thread that are offensive and NEED to be brought up. I refer to Melo's recent thread about her father's death. Marc's post in that was way out of line and totally inappropriate IMO.

Indeed. That's why this thread was started in the first place - to criticise all who offered Melo their condolences.

I think name calling over the Internet should not be taken seriously unless the person has the balls to say it to the other persons face.

Very true. We also have to remember this is a largely unmoderated board. On a more moderated board, Marc would have been told by a mod that his behaviour would not be tolerated. After his threats to Erekose he would have had his IP banned, especially on the boards that I moderate. I wouldn't have taken any of that. He'd have been long gone.

Now, this board is different. It can be down to the member group to remind people they are out of line if they haven't violated the TOS. This is why I think many of us comment, when ordinarily we wouldn't on a policed board.

   I know! So why complain about these threads so much when everyone has fun with it?

Flaming should have it's limits though and I agree with Lisa about how if the boards were more closely moderated some comments wouldn't be accepted at all.
