My dad and grandparents did this, but under the sink. Something about it being bad to pour down the drain. When the can was full, they'd throw it out.

Yup I have a grease can, grease down the drain will clog the lines.

I was reading up on it. Interesting stuff.

The thing is that the parents are in no ways religious at all but yet this is some kind of huge big deal. My mother was very Catholic, so my baptism was important, but I don't see the point when you aren't religious especially when people have already given you birth and Christmas gifts for the baby, know what I mean?

My mother, bless her heart, was upset that I wasn't baptizing my daughter but I'm not Christian, her father wasn't Christian, etc. Her friend, an intelligent scientist, told me that I ran the risk of the child going to hell. :wow: Tolerance doesn't run deep in our society apparently.

I guess I just approach things with too much of a conservative viewpoint for my husband.

When it comes to Catholics baptisms are a big deal. If you come from a very strong religious family you get pressured to baptize even if you aren't active anymore.

Well our post-nuptial dictates the house is mine and only my name will be on the deed, so I have some freedom with that.

Counseling I don't think will work for us, actually statistically it rarely works for anyone.

Nah, we just had a deal and expectations when we got married. Neither of us is really holding up our end of the deal. It isn't a particularly bad marriage, 'cuz I've had one of those, but it is sort of neither of us getting what we need. I'm not sure that is divorce worthy, but I certainly could do with a long break.

Honestly, we should have both waited until we were done with school before we got married. He's slightly resentful he didn't get to finish his education and the many hours I spent talking to him caused me to waste about 2 years of school. There is also just a lot of resentment on my part over his infertility. Also, this whole thing with his nightmare of a sister has ###### with our relationship ever since, still is.

Time to figure out what you two want out of your marriage, and are you sure you guys want to try for a baby when things are strained?

We have rain headed our way, thunderstorms here a cool. Well they are when they are just that not tornado storms.

Time to figure out what you two want out of your marriage, and are you sure you guys want to try for a baby when things are strained?

Infertility pushes most marriages to the brink, it has never stopped anyone I know.

When you can plan and decide when you have children, you get the luxury of deciding when in your relationship is a good time. It would be hard for someone whose not been through it to understand that if we don't get pregnant in the next 3 months with IVF, we will never and I do mean never have a natural child.

Someone who has had 5 children, can just up and decide to have them 3 months later or a year later. When you need a whole team of doctors and specialists and 20k+ to just have one, life is different.

Do you know I dream of having 5? That I cry every time I see a mother with more than one or with a newborn? That I can't even bare to see pictures of baby or a pregnant woman?

These are things that are very hard for someone in your position to understand, let alone judge.

Sorry Nola I wasn't trying to offend you, it just sounded like things are rough and not due to the fertility issue. I can't fully relate to what you are going through but I have been through fertility treatments took 5 yrs to get Alexis so I do know it's not easy and how expensive it is.

Again I'm sorry

Yeah, well if I'm not knocked up by year's end, the Dane can ship his #### back home. Too much #######, not enough good right now.

A friend of mine whom I hold high regard said to me (before I got married)....

"When you marry, you will fight and fight and nothing is right, and she nags and nags, and she never agrees with you, it'll be terrible, this will go on for about 5 years."

I asked; "what happens after 5 years?"

My friend; "Then you get used to it" ?
