PS: I'll let you give me a loan for a NEW car. I bet that would help my case!

Now that truly hurts. But yes, dealers are into making money on used cars, that means make it look clean and pretty, but do nothing with mechanical problems. It doesn't surprise me at all that you got a used car off the lot in such conditions.

I thought the car starting on fire sounded a little funny to. But it did not have full coverage, so no recovery money to be made on it, and the husband had just returned from work driving it. I think they got a car with a gas leak, hot engine, pool of gas and poof.

Dang. Scary.

My car is FULLY covered.

Down to only a $250 deductible.

But I know they still only pay what it's worth.

I had never bought a used car before NOT still under warranty (excluding the POS 1.1k car I had for a year) so all my other cars were great.

I never thought to try and negotiate the loan down, but now I'm kinda hoping this could work.

I mean with the incentive to let me reloan a NEW car maybe I will have a leg to stand on?

They are making money off of me the past 2 years, AND giving me a new loan (at a better rate of course!)

She was, but it was causing slight weight-regain, so I discussed it with her and we'll revert to my bachelor diet for 5 days/week. Latest bloodwork results = best in quite a while, bleed man.

Actually, my true bachelor diet (pre-Mrs. T-B.) involved eating over the sink, whee man.

I love Ecuadorian food, especially saltado :D

Interesting that you've got a 250 deductible, how much are you paying in insurance? I thought the calculations generally show that 1000 is is the best cost saving for the consumer. If you report any damage below that, you are begging for a rate increase. I don't know about your locale, but here...let's say someone like myself were to get into an accident in a parking lot backing into another car that was also backing up...both at fault...we both have big bumper dings, but we agree to shake hands and not report it because the increase in insurance isn't worth it.

I hope you can negotiate it down, but I'd make a point that the car isn't worth the repairs you are doing at this point and you might have to abandon the loan if you can't reach an agreement. Might also be worth it to point out you got scammed when you bought the car and overpaid.

Actually, they should have that on record because I reported the issue to the loan company a week after purchase.

Because I told them it may not go through to begin with because of what happened.

So that should help.

I know what I'm capable of coming up with, and in the case of ever having massive damage to my car, I cannot easily come up with more than $250 on a whim.

So I pay for what I know I could potentially need to afford, not with the intention of reporting small damage that my dad could fix anyway.

I could never come up with $1000 to fix my car.

And barely $500.

I pay $81/mo for full coverage.

So it turns out I didn't need that 5 hour glucose test and because the lady at the lab mislabeled them, they have to throw out all the results! :ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting:

But you still need to pay for the 5 hour test, you didn't need and they botched anyway, I'd bet.

No, they cancelled it completely out the system because my results were too erratic, but it could just be I have reactive hypoglycemia or something.

They aren't authorized to give me a test that my doctor didn't order, so they won't bill for it.

Now thats surprising giving the way healthcare companies work today.

Exactly what did your doctor order?

Maybe he order sugar in his coffee, so they gave her a 5 hours glucose test?

Apparently instead of a 5 hour, a 2 hour GTT and insulin test. But because something was wonky, they threw out both the 2 hour GTT and the 5 hour (yes, the lady at the lab did both).

Now thats surprising giving the way healthcare companies work today.

By billing they have a paper trail of the mistake, don't they now? The hospitals in CT are scared of these types of things and take them very seriously. My mother told me what happens at her hospital when someone makes an error or they get a formal complaint, it isn't fun.
