Wassap Wassaaaaaap.

Thanks to Steve, wheel bearings have been replaced and car is SOOOOOOOOOOO quiet.

I think I'm going to actually look at some cars this weekend.

After I figure out how much it is to pay off my current loan.

See what I can get for this POS.

Sorry I should clarify, thanks to steve, they have been replaced CHEAPLY

awe i hate my life sometimes.

KBB trade in value on it is 2.8k. and I owe 5.1k

Which kills me because I have paid over 5.4k into it.

It's this damn interest rate.

I really need to refinance this thing.

I've been perfect on my payments for 2 years.

I'm going to write an article about why women shouldn't buy cars alone.

Actually I wasn't alone, but my husband wasn't useful during this transaction.

This is why I like new cars and not buying someone else's problems.

We live at the end of a street where you have to turn, it's just a corner.

One time, a drunk driver didn't turn and drove right into my mom's car that parks over in a small spot in the yard

I pray every night that a drunk driver would total my car.

A Fil/Am couple that live in town here just bought a used car last month. Not even three weeks later the thing burst into flames in their apartment parking lot. The husband picked out that car.

This is why I like new cars and not buying someone else's problems.

Once upon a time, I had a new car.

Then, 3 months later, my ahole boss "let me go"

Then I couldn't pay for said car.

And about a year and a half later, I finally gave it up for repo.

Then I was stuck with a reposession on my credit and a car worth the cash i paid for it which was 1.1k.

Car was getting iffy after a year so I was eager to buy anything anyone would let me get a loan for.

I didn't negotiate. The sales rep misrepresented the car's condition. I got stuck with a POS.

That I bought from a DEALERSHIP because I thought it would be a bit safer.

You'd think that at the very least, a car you get from a dealership wouldn't need brake pads AND rotors.

In fact, the control arms on it are so bad, if a small child ran out into the street, I wouldn't be able to avoid them.

But that's apparently satisfactory to sell that way.

I understand As-Is but I really thought a dealership would at least check SOMETHING on it.

OH I MEAN EVEN THE OIL HADNT BEEN CHANGED.

For christ sakes.

Lesson learned, but of all the embarrassing moments in my life, this one I have to drive around in every day.

I know that if my car were totaled, though, all I would get is BB value, so there's no point in hoping for that really, I'm already stuck STILL paying for my repo'd car balance (think I still have about 3k left of the 6k) and the last thing I need is to pay ANOTHER payment to a car that doesn't exist.

 I love my husband, but he knows not a whole lot about cars and I could totally see this happening. He is so handy and mechanically inclined in other areas, I hope that I can get him to fix cars soon.

An idea - tell your loan company that you are in financial difficulty, give them 2 offers on the car from dealerships and then see if they forgive the rest of the loan. We had to do that with my dad's car. USAA forgave like 5k or 8k or something.

My biggest mistake is that my dad is an autobody technician.

Anyone in any right state of mind would have taken their father on a test drive before buying.

My dad knew in 30 seconds after driving it (after I bought it!) that it was BAD.

I don't think I could lie.

Because I actually WANT a new car.

My only thought would be to negotiate with them to take the offer and forgive the rest only because they STILL would have made money off of me over the past few years.

If I could get a dealership to give me 3k for it, I've paid 5.4k on it.

Making a total of 8.4k total paid to a loan of 7.2k. in 2 years.

They still made money.

More of a, look I know I screwed up and had bad credit so you gave me a HORRIBLE interest rate, but how about we pay this off and call it even because I've only ever paid you ahead of time and never late?

Now that truly hurts. But yes, dealers are into making money on used cars, that means make it look clean and pretty, but do nothing with mechanical problems. It doesn't surprise me at all that you got a used car off the lot in such conditions.

I thought the car starting on fire sounded a little funny to. But it did not have full coverage, so no recovery money to be made on it, and the husband had just returned from work driving it. I think they got a car with a gas leak, hot engine, pool of gas and poof.
