So why can't he just go there in the first place?

That is what they all say when they leave. My husband did something similar, but now that he's been here a while, I don't hear any talk of going back, and he shoots it down when I even mention it!

it'll be easier for us to get the right visa after we've been married 2-3 years.

and i'm sure i'll enjoy living in the US. it's just that home...will always be better. for me. i think that's natural unless you live in circumstances that you're trying to escape in the first place.
