I know my sister had her kids swimming when they could barely walk...so I don't think it would be that strange...

I could swim at that age, but only because we had a pool at my Kindergarten and I swam all the time.

I'm debating on changing our RSVP to no, because I don't want her to feel weird.

She went to a beach party last summer, because she seems to have enough sense in the ocean not to go too deep.

Am I weird in thinking that 5/6 is too early for a pool party? My daughter has one in two weeks, but she can't swim yet despite many many lessons. I just signed her up to start lessons today somewhere new that supposedly pushes them a little bit more, but I can't imagine that all of her classmates are swimming?

Pool party? 2 weeks? She'll get hypothermia.....

you make a good point..i get overly excited about posting and figure...organize it later....fine..next I will organize first post link after...sigh :D

ya...she has a lot of personality and yes....most def pain to maintain..she is getting shaved on Sunday..cannot wait.

I had a pair of absolutely beautiful poms as foster dogs once. They had been well taken care of at one point, until the woman of the house got pregnant. When I got them, they still looked pretty good, but underneath you could feel how badly they were matting up. Took me a month for get their coats totally brushed out and matt free again. I spent about 30 minutes every day on it, as I didn't want them to have to go through shaving, and it wasn't so bad that it couldn't eventually be brushed out. I hope the people who adopted them, kept it up.

Pools generally have shallow ends?

This pool I actually know well because she had swimming lessons there before, it is under an inflatable dome until June, but the whole pool is the same depth, there is no 'shallow' enough end per se. They do have a kiddie pool, but it doesn't open until June because it is outside.

Don't send her unless you know she will have life guards supervising. My daughter went to a party at a hotel. The pool and hot tubes where used and no life guards. I found out a few years later that my daughter went under lost consciousness and the parents weren't really watching. No one even told me I think they told her to not tell either, it slipped one day a few years later. I could of lost my daughter that night, I wanted to rip those ppl to shreds.

I could swim by that age. But a pool party doesn't have to mean swimming, it can just be fun in the water to.

I should really go make dinner.

Why? let it go, no good reason to start cooking.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
