The people who got the death penalty didn't just rape the girl, they killed her. Rape+murder = death penalty in India. It's been

They did not kill her, nor did they kill anybody else.. In two different incidents the group raped two women and subdued the men with them. They tried to keep them silent by recording the assaults and threatening to put it on the internet if they went to the police. All of the victims testified during the trial.. There is an interview with the main victim talking about the anguish of having to sit in court and watch the video of the assault.

I'm not trying to make any sort of judgment on India. The country was a bit in shock last year after the Dehli gang-rape and under that collective mental state put the new anti-rape laws into effect. These are the first death penalties for this new law so it is bound to cause some re-think.

but.....

There is an interesting article today on the aftermath of the "boys make mistakes" comment made by Yadav.. The article title is about damage control but the attitude shown is anything but.. then another politician says this in the article:

Azmi told Mid-day when asked for a solution to the problem of rapes: "Any woman if, whether married or unmarried, goes along with a man, with or without her consent, should be hanged.

Both should be hanged. It shouldn't be allowed even if a woman goes by consent."

How is THAT comment not the focus of the article? Its like they sneak it in there....
