She said the longest part was the fingerprints and paperwork because they take all the people in at once and do that all in a group then have a quick one on one for the questions

oh i see. that's pretty cool take forever for fingerprints and get them in and out for interviews.. pretty nice well congrats on starting your lives together!! one more out .. not much more to go! april 2014 is almost finished!

just a short update: We are done with this journey - well, at least until ROC comes up.

I had POE in Orlando on 06-25 and it was very easy. No questions asked, very friendly staff.

I wish good luck to everyone who is still waiting to the end of the long waiting game. There actually IS an end.

I know. The waiting never ends. We have cleared my appartement within 20 days so we were too busy for being inpatient for finally fly out.

So for the ones who have already been through POE, what actually happens at Customs for the first time coming through, and what do they do with the massive sealed envelope. Im looking into my wives flight, but im torn between how much time she will need for her layover to take care customs and whatnot

So for the ones who have already been through POE, what actually happens at Customs for the first time coming through, and what do they do with the massive sealed envelope. Im looking into my wives flight, but im torn between how much time she will need for her layover to take care customs and whatnot

My husband had absolutely no problem getting through POE. It took awhile for everyone to get through customs as there were mostly non-US citizens on our plane. Once he got up to the window with this packet, they ushered him downstairs (at Newark) and into a special area where he had to wait for a large group of guys with shipping visas to get cleared. The CBP went into an office with the envelope while my husband waited outside, so he's not sure other then he saw them open it. They only asked him where he was going. Then did fingerprinting and a photo. Stamped his visa and away he went! We had a 4 hour layover, and I'd say total time, it took him about 1.5 - 2 hours, mostly just with waiting around. You never know what could cause a delay, the flight being late, a large influx of people going through customs at the same time, and just like in my husband's case - he had to wait for the large group of shipping crew to get through. We also had to collect our luggage and re-check it. So all of this took some time. I personally would not book a flight with less than a 2 -3 hour layover just to be safe. You can always go grab a bite or find a quiet spot to relax and be happy being with each other again! Better to wait around a little, than miss your connecting flight. Best of luck!
