Hi Lynn

Thanks for informing all in almost every stage of CR1. I just found this forum & found really helpful.

I just got approval on my I130 on 11th May. I have few questions about PCC & Docs to be sent to NVC from India. Please revert as per your convenience.

1. PCC - Did you send PCC taken from Regional passport office ? or Local police station ? or Both ? - I live in Baroda, Gujarat.

2. AOS & IV Docs Package - Why did you choose mail service & send it from FedEx when Email processing is available? Is it more convenient? or Is mail service processed faster than email processing?

3. Docs which you send in packages has to be verified or attested or notarized by legal service provider in India?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Jojo! You're welcome and glad you found my info helpful! Now to answer your questions:

1. The PCC was from the regional passport office. You may be able to go online but call your local passport office to find out directly what you should do. My husband had to go directly to the passport office in Bihar.

2. EP is not available for India filers (unless that's changed in the past 5 months) And yes - mail processing is quicker than EP.

3. We didn't have any documents attested or notarized

Did you send your financial documents (package 1_ separately from US? And your husband (here in Bihar) sent documents in different package (Package 2)?

You're welcome ?

I put together and sent both packages from the U.S. It worked out well since we only had to send copies of the originals and bring the originals to the interview.

Few more questions. I am getting more questions as going deep in process now.

1. So, both documents (Financial docs from US in Package 1 + Civil Docs from India in Package 2) will be in separate packages, right ?

2. Even we have to send the copies of financial documents, right? and the other spouse in India has to bring original to the Mumbai Embassy ? Am i right?

3. How did you & your spouse in India get first notification from NVC? Mail or Email? OR do we have to call to find about NVC number & other details?

4. Does the spouse in India get any notification for Interview notification in Mumbai via email or mail ?

Thanks

Jojo

Hi guys, my wife and I are worried that there is a problem with our case. We filed on April 2014 and I don't believe our petition has even been processed yet (no NOA2). I've called their number and talked to a rep who didn't really have anything to say that I couldn't get off of the USCIS case status webpage.

I've had a change of address to a different state which I think might be complicating things.

It wouldn't be so bad if they at least kept us up to date with what they were doing but these past 13 months have been a big empty void with intermittent scraps of non-meaningful information from them. We are really starting to worry so if anyone has any advice over how to speed this up, we would really appreciate it. I've listed dates and actions below.

2014-01-17 - Married in Irving, TX (Texas native, Netherlands spouse)

2014-04-10 - Mailed I-130 to Phoenix lockbox

2014-04-15 - Notice Of Action (Notice Date: April 15 2014; Received Date: April 11, 2014; Priority Date: April 11, 2014; Preference Classification: 201 B INA SPOUSE OF USC) - Nebraska Service Center

2014-09-21 - Notice Of Action (Notice Type: Transfer Notice; Transferred to California Service Center)

This is to advise you that in order to speed up processing we have transferred the above case to the following USCIS office for processing: California Service Center, 2nd Flr, 24000 Avila Road, Laguna Nigel CA 92607-0111

2015-01-11 - Submitted inquiry about why our case is taking longer than normal processing time

2015-01-29 - Request for inquiry about why our case is taking longer than normal processing time assigned to an officer for response.

2015-03-23 - Response to about why our case is taking longer than normal processing time:

Your petition is still pending consideration. We currently do not have a date for your interview. Your case has been placed in queue for scheduling on a future date. We regret that we are not able to give you a timeframe for when we will complete the review of your petition.

2015-03-25 - Moved to California for employment and requested change of address to USCIS

2015-04-02 - Request to change address was assigned to an officer for response

2015-04-16 - Response to change of address request:

USCIS has processed your request. USCIS systems and your file have been updated with the new address provided. Additionally, your petition is being forwarded to the Chula Vista, CA Field Office as that office now has jurisdiction. At this time, no further action is required from you.

The thing is once you change serive centers the whole process starts over again with the new center and your file goes to the bottom on the pile. have you contacted the CIS Ombudsman or your Congressman yet?

1. Yes AOS and IV packages in separate envelopes but mailed TOGETHER in ONE envelope. This is what I and a lot of people do, but not everyone. Some have sent theirs separately. I personally don't recommend this as you then have two scan dates to track.

2. Yes. And FYI - Mumbai is a Consulate, not an Embassy - there's a difference.

3. Mostly call, call and call some more for practically every step of the NVC process. You WILL have to dial over and over, you WILL be put on hold for long periods and you MUST have patience! LOL

4. When the NVC recieves your case and they get it uploaded into their system, you can then give your spouse's email so that both the petitioner and beneficiary receive email notifications.

Even if you look on the NVC website it even says yo mail it all off at one time, they will take about 30-40 days to revieve each packet od docs you send so always best to send it all off at on

Step 6: Submit Documents to the NVC

After you collect your Affidavit of Support form(s) and financial evidence in Step 4, and supporting documents in Step 5, you must submit all of your forms, financial evidence, and photocopies of your original civil documents in ONE package to the NVC. Your case may be significantly delayed if you fail to submit all of your documents in one package.

Thanks a lot Lynn.

It's a consulate. I will tell my spouse to put documents in 2 different envelope & send in one package. Do I have to take financial documents of US spouse to Mumbai US consulate?

I will call NVC. What's their number? 603-334-0700? I didn't get the case number yet from NVC. Is it good if I will them now? How will they know me? Will USCIS number work here?

Saylin is really helpful. Thanks for sharing.
