Congrats! The worst part is over! Keep an eye out for the IV invoice/DS-260 but mostly you can sit back and relax for 5-6 weeks. After that you can start freaking out and checking the CEAC site for a CC. They're on Oct 20 right now.

To be honest I check CEAC every day although they said it takes at least 30 days to initiate IV invoice / DS-260.

That will change in a couple of days I hope

Wow that's awesome! India is an exciting place.... so busy and noisy but the scents and food are amazing. My husband is the one that lives there, I'm the petitioner. I've made 7 trips there and I grow to love it more and more. It's got it's not so great side too, like most countries, but I still miss it greatly. Of course, the one place you HAVE to go to is the Taj Mahal. Goa is great touristy beach resort, the many colors of Rajasthan, Victoria Hall in Kolkata, the Gateway of India in Mumbai... there's so many places and things to see. All the temples that are everywhere are amazing as well. India is a huge country and getting around takes lots of time and patience due to the large volumes of traffic and crowds so your group needs to plan well. I've not been to south India and one day hope to see that part of the country as well. Wherever you go, I'm sure you'll enjoy! I hope your husband gets to join you on the trip!

check out saylin wiki on the NVC process... read it a million times!!! and if you got any question just let us know. my case just got to NVC so they say its taking 30 days for a case number so for right now I would say call in about a week to make sure your case got to NVC, but others that almost done can help you out more!

Great news! I knew you'd hear something very soon!! As she It'sGonnaBeWorthIt (IGBWI) said, check Saylin's Wiki on the NVC process here:

You still have to have lots of patience from here as well as NVC is running a little slow but just know that you're making forward progress! Our case took 13 days to get from USCIS to the NVC. Now we're waiting for our case # and IIN #, so we're not that far along either. It seems as if IGBWI and us are running on about the same timeline track. Congrats and keep in touch and post your progress in this thread to help everyone here as well. We're all here to assist each other during this frustrating time

I would call NVC in 2 week to make sure your case got there mine got there in 13 days and I think also lynns got there in 13 days , the hold is long and calling is long, it took me 87 tries and I was on hold for 30min just for the woman to take 3 seconds and tell me my case got there on December 1 , but as long as it got there I didn't mind the wait .. and its taking about 30 days for a case number to be assigned so if you want to try calling them back in 30 days to see if they put a number to your case, or as often as you want you can call

you got this far without one I honestly don't think you need one now lol, but its up to you , if you can fill out the paperwork as you did the first step then I wouldn't suggest wasting money, the guides on here are very helpful and also for the AOS they have example forms to help you along from what I learn from filling out the AOS form

1: don't leave anything blank if its N/A put it

2: sign and fill it out in black ink

3: check it 100 times before you send lol

I don't know how to post links but

read the NVC wiki that saylin posted ( it really helps)

when filling out the AOS I had the example form right next to it to make sure I didn't miss anything

if need be have someone else look it over just to make sure you didn't miss anything( me and my friend did it for the i130)

yea USCIS was much easier with letting you know whats going on with your case, but after case number i think we start getting the emails again im not sure though. ok! keep us posted after you get case #

You just have to keep calling apparently and yes, it takes a lot of patience for the phone calls as well. Once you finally get through, and it will most likely take you several tries, then you're usually on hold for an extensive amount of time (it took me 11 times dialing and I was on hold for 49 minutes). They told me my case arrived after 13 days from USCIS and to allow up to 42 days from NOA 2 to get your case and IIN #s. Others here have posted that it's taking around 29-30 days right now, so we may get lucky. Personally, I feel if you've gotten this far without an attorney you most likely don't need one now unless you have extenuating circumstances dealing with your petition that you feel an attorney could help. Like everyone is telling you here - read the Wikis and Guides - they are extremely helpful!

lol put it back on the bottom of the pile and start processing the october filers. i would like that if you still have people pending from well outside their own processing times you would want to make sure those get finished first. but then again that makes sense and its wrong lol. i do wonder what kind of oversight they have their, and to be if a case is outside their normal processing times, that should be grounds for an immediate expedite, then then again that makes sense so its wrong
